A beautiful place for a few nights on Ilha Grande, we would have loved to stay longer! Large airy rooms with balconies looking out onto the rain forest behind the property were wonderful. Breakfast was freshly cooked with plenty of fresh fruit and good coffee.
For us our host made the biggest difference  to our experience, giving us perfect recommendations for our time there. She directed us to a beach a short boat ride away that ended up being one of the highlights of my entire three month trip. She also ensured we had our return transfers arranged, coming with us to the port to ensure all went smoothly for us. Not just a beautiful property but run by beautiful warm people who helped make our stay there very memorable and special. Thank you for giving us such happy memories of our time there!

Beautiful and a highlight of the trip!

I have been with my sister to Pitanga's and the experience could not have been better. Juliana, the host, was extremely kind and helpful assisting us on what to do off-the-beaten track, if needed. I have been already 5 or 6 times to the island and that was my first time (of many to come) in Pitanga. The pousada is also very well located, a short walk from the city centre which is not far but grants you privacy and calmness. We found the rooms spacious enough and tidy, the breakfast very generous and the overall atmosphere very relaxed. Totally recommended.

Fantastic Experience!

For my first stay on Ilha Grande, I wasn't exactly sure where to stay.  Based on reviews and price, I picked Pitanga.  It was a good choice.  I think the location is perfect; perhaps a 7-minute walk from the main dock but up a quiet side street away from the hustle and bustle.  Maria is a fine, caring host who speaks good English and can help you with any concerns that may arise.  Breakfast is terrific with fresh-made eggs, great coffee, fresh juices, breads, cakes, local fruits, cheese, ham, etc.  The property is surrounded by tropical foliage and has a pleasant sitting area.  

Rooms themselves are fairly basic; 2 or 3 star.  A small, arrow room on the ground floor with a couple of single beds, and a sleeping loft upstairs with a queen bed.  No closets or anything like that to store your luggage.  The beds were excellent.  You have to pay additional for air conditioning, which you would need in summer months (in November, we didn't pay and were OK, but any warmer and it would have been necessary).   There was a good refrigerator in the room and hot showers.  Everything you'd need (restaurants, small markets, tour operators), are within a couple minutes walk.  So as long as you're not expecting luxury, you will like this pousada.

An excellent small pousada

Pithanga is a great place to stay, a short walk from abraao docking station. The rooms are huge (on two floors!) and the breakfast of eggs bread cheeses fruits and cakes was delicious. The owner was really lovely and helped us with routes for hikes and beach spots. Would definitely recommend as a lovely chilled out retreat.

Brilliant stay

Loved staying here. We were welcomed into a room on 2 levels which made it feel spacious yet comforting. It was very clean and cleaned daily. Excellent breakfast - amazing mango!! We were even able to leave our things there after we had checked out in her house. Would definitely stay here again.
