What an amazing find both Manuel & Ellen were the most amazing hosts and we had a great time explaining Irish history to them! We were on a family journey to commemorate my Dad’s Uncle who died in 1915 and is remembered on the wall at Menin Gate. A special trip that was made all the more special by the amazing treatment from Manuel & Ellen not to mention the most delicious dinner we had in along time in the restaurant and the very substantial & colourful breakfast with amazing crepes all prepared by Manuel who is a talented Chef and he even gave my Dad his recepie! The room was great & the beds so comfortable after a lot of walking! Thank you so much for a wonder trip to Ypres. We will not forget it.

Wonderful place wonderful food & the best hosts

Hotel is located about 5 minutes of walking from the main square in not very busy street. Room was clean, light and nicely decorated, owner was very friendly and helpful. The shared bath room was finally not as big issue as I thought as there are only 3 rooms and the other guests apparently had a good hygienic manners. 
There is no parking at the hotel. It is always possible to find a free spot on the streets around but not always near the hotel. From 6 p.m. till 9 a.m. parking is free, during the day it's paid and quite expensive.

Shared bath room

I was met by Manuel the Owner on Arrival as I was part of the Advance Party, his English was Perfect and as such he explained everything to me before the Others arrived quite late in the Evening. The Rooms ( Triple and Double ) were Spotless and Comfortable with all the Usual Assortments of Tea + Coffee, Snacks, ( Even Spare Reading Glasses in all Rooms ) the Trip went perfectly for all of us and the Hotel is situated almost Right in the Centre of Ypres, making it Ideal for our needs around the Cloth Hall and The Menin Gate.....We will certainly  be back in the very near future. with New Members

Easy to find, with street parking nearby. The rooms were quiet and beautifully decorated. The staff were friendly. Overall a great hotel. There is a shared bathroom between 3 bedrooms, but as we'd booked 2 of the 3 rooms this didn't cause much interruption 

Charming hotel, great location

Met by the owner at check in time.  He was very polite and his English was exceptional. He took time to show me all the amenities and made sure I was happy before carrying on with his job of preparing the evening meals for the attached restaurant. 
My room was Very clean, very tidy with TV (inc BBC) and tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was quite soft but I slept very well with hardly any noise from the street below. 
Only one bathroom and one toilet for the shared guest rooms. Not a problem for me as I was up early and didn't have to wait. I could imagine someone getting caught short if they were "busting to go" and someone was already using the toilet. 

Would I recommend De Heerlyckheid - most definitely.

Yes, I would stay there again

We stayed for 2 nights as part of our travels round Europe. The couple welcomed us and kept our bags safe whilst we went and explored the town as we were a little early to check in. 

The room was bright, beautifully decorated and had one of the comfiest beds ever! There are only 3 rooms and we were lucky to be the only people there at the time, which meant we had the shared bathroom and toilet to ourselves (although should we have had to share I wouldn't see it being a problem whatsoever!)

We didn't pay for the breakfast, however we woke up to fresh pastries outside our room which was a lovely gesture. They couldn't have been more helpful and attentive, offering fresh water, teacups and coffee and anything else we needed. 

Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Ypres - perfect location!!
