Hotel Frederiksborg

To get to the hotel from Simonis train station is a 10 minute walk through the most beautiful park - in autumn the colours were surreal. The hotel itself is also a restaurant and bar which supplies decent breakfasts, lunches and dinners. We ate there twice and were not disappointed with the service, price or quality of the fare. Directly across the road is the most delightful patisserie - I have to say I have never enjoyed pastries more. Why are the Belgians not fat?? Our room was small but complete. Every day our linen was changed and the room cleaned. Our towels were on a heated towel rail and the bathroom was quite modern. We were on the third floor with a direct view of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Amazing! Whilst street noise could be heard it wasn't intrusive enough to affect our sleep. Overall, the only way we were aware that the Hotel Frederiksborg was not an expensive European chain was the low price we paid for the accommodation. We would stay again and recommend it to the budget conscious traveller.
