We arrived early on Monday morning due to the ferry being late and the person behind the desk was just about to say that we were a non show.I have been to many hotels and the Albert is one of them but in it's previous name.When we went there it was an okay hotel that had a certain charm that would make us go back.So when the opportunity to go this October 2012 came about i was wondering what has happened to the hotel and the surrounding area.The room was spacious and good size for three people with an ensuite. The floor had a leather feel to it with tiles that they had put on the floor.There was tea and coffee making facilities and the Television was of a good size.The hotel is in a prime position with the main square near by .The staff are helpful and try their best to accommodate you.The breakfast was sausage and beans on one day and scrambled egg and sausage on the other morning.They have a selection of hot and cold juices with yoghurt .To also have bread, cakes, cold meats ,cereal that you get from a dispenser is good.You also get a toaster which was good and it is better than when the previous owners had it
You have an idea in mind when you go back to a hotel and is was better than the last time i was here.
The parking is bad ,but if you are prepared to walk to the hotel then the supermarket(Delhaize)  by the  Mercator ship and you go there behind it it's free:-)
I can recommend it as i have seen it from where it was to where it is going and it is looking good direction.
My only quarm about the hotel was that the  pillows are very small and the windows let a bit of a draft in the bathroom

George V now change name(Albert II Hotel)

This is hotel is now called Albert II Hotel. It is a budget hotel but it is clean, tidy and the location is superb. The breakfast is typical continental, the rooms are small but if they are used for nothing more sleep there are no complaints. Some of the hotel rooms have been refurbished, while others have not. The staff are very friendly, helpful and polite. If you are looking for a cheap, well located hotel for 1-2 nights without any luxury this is for you! It is right on the main high street of Ostende. The hotel seems to cater for British and budget German tourists mostly. It seems fairly family friendly but it really does cater for the basic passing holiday maker, or student traveller. If you are looking for a luxury break with lots to do and see this town will disappoint you. Especially considering how close Brugges is. Ostende is nice, it is very cheap to drink and eat but due to it being destroyed in the war there is little to see and what is there is rather utilitarian.

Budget hotel with good location and friendly staff

So we went here on a deal by the website Travelbird. The rooms were not good, the door was crocked. The curtains were old and ugly.. The room was not soundproof at all. It was like the neighbors were entering your room instead of theirs. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. The corridor was creepy, bad lights, like a scene of a horror movie. The free bikes were far from the hotel. I'm not going back here.

not happy at all.

Stayed here with a group for a beer festival, hotel ok but the carpet was so dirty/stained I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing! The shower was disgusting and did not drain properly. I would NOT stay here again!

Awful rooms

Myself & my husband stayed in this hotel it was so under par on alot of things, the reception was on the first floor ,the lift was to small the staff was unplesent , the room was dusty NOT hooverd the window catch closed at the bottom & not the top, the food was under par (CRAP) to u and me.( apart from the continental breakfast) which is standard when overseas. ther was only 2 members of staff at dinner service and one of them was the bar tender . Even tho it was self contained we had no bed room door on at all.  THE HOTEL NAME IS ( ALBERT 2 )
