Perfectly located in old town centre, antique feel and if you do not mind creaking floors and doors, it has all necessary amenities. Breakfast setup at nearby group Victoria hotel simple but complete. Clean sheets and towels every day included.

Pleasantly inconvenient

Durbuy(pronounced Durbwee) is a beautiful town steeped in history and positioned geographically within the Wallonia region of Belgium. 
This place was unsurprisingly untouched during the Nazi advance through the Ardennes in the second world war. It would have been too nice to spoil I imagine.
The small city with its cobbled streets is a great place to visit no doubt. The buildings, eateries and drinking establishments are plentiful and the choice of Belgian beers are endless. There aren't many places to stay within this small city (more like a small town really)but there are a few like the Hotel Le Vieux but beware!
The hotel, as a building is fine, it looks great from the outside and has character. The problem, which is surprising is it is too hot inside the rooms. There is no air con or fans and has ventilation only through an open double glazed window which is ineffective.
The noise from the street is echoed by the closeness of the streets and alleyways, so opening the windows for air leaves you in a catch 22 situation. You either get suffocated or put up with the relentless sound of the many people traversing the streets, day and night. An old creaking staircase to the rooms doesn't help anybody staying there either. The building is also annexed away from the check-in reception at its sister hotel,50 meters or so down the street. The hotel annex is unmanned for some reason. Breakfast is optional at 15 Euros per head. Buffet style food is served openly on side tables within the dining area. The problem is the flies. I have never seen so many flies around food in all my traveling years especially in a hotel such as this. It made me sick to my stomach. The breakfast is mainly continental and there were baguettes stacked up, fruit loafs uncovered, small patisseries and fruit open to this unwelcome plethora of germ-ridden insects. What made it worse were the toilets situated next to the dining room. I saw one lady dipping a cake thing into her tea. She probably ate the fly eggs within it too. Disgusting!!
'Get a fly killer', no expense spared, please. Toilet area, open plated food and flies do go together..for the flies, yes but come on get a grip!!.
I suppose the proprietor will be mesmerized by these comments but I want to make sure they really know about healthy, hygienic conditions. It can't be ignored and please don't blame the wooded areas and river nearby. Get a damn Diaminox, it is quick and easy and for those bog fly lovers they won't know what hit them, so don't worry.
Durbuy is definitely worth a visit but be wary of this hotel and its ignorance of food standards.
Oh! and the wifi is diabolical,sorry.

Avoid the flies

We stayed with 4 in the appartement. Spacious, nicely decorated. Bathroom with bath and shower in 1, separated toilet. 2 bedrooms, a small room with tv and sitting corner, large kitchen. 2 dogs allowed. Check-in and breakfast at Hotel Victoria, 1 minute away. Friendly French speaking staff. Don't forget to pay your parking ticket, 25€ fine. The only disadvantage is that there are no parking solutions foreseen for hotel guests. Breakfast basic but everything you need, 15€/p.p., dog 6,5€/day. We had a great stay!

Nice hotel in the middle of the smallest village of Belgiul

Lovely little hotel in a great spot. Check in is across the road at another hotel but it's fast and they walk you to your room. Only issue for me was there was no tea or coffee facilities in the room and local shops don't open early so you have to wait for a morning cuppa. Wouldn't stop me from staying again though.

Quaint hotel in a prime location

A very pretty residence, decorated sympathetically for its period. I see other reviews have complained about the check in at the nearby hotel and the lack of parking. Durbuy is a tiny little place. The other hotel is literally across the road and they still insist on ferrying you to your rooms in an electric golf cart. We parked in the big carpark on the other side of the town (3 min walk) which was free between 7pm and 10am. The bed was a little softer than I'd like but we slept well. Bathroom well appointed and the staff were charming. I'd recommend it.

Quaint as you like!

The Location is great, right in the hearth of old city but:
-no reception present at the hotel. you need to go 200 meters away to another hotel to register and get your keys!!
-no hotel lobby. the entrance looks and smells awful, it is supposed to look old .
-no parking. you need to park at a nearby public parking, and the charge is expensive
-Actual rooms are nothing like the profile pictures

in short, choose another hotel, there are plenty around.

Great Location not very good hotel

My partner and I had the best meal of our lives about ten years ago at Le Sanglier des Ardennes in Durbuy, a quaint, historic village in the Ardennes (Belgium). We finally returned to Durbuy last weekend and this time, we stayed at Au Vieux Durbuy, a sister hotel of Le Sanglier des Ardennes. Au Vieux Durbuy is a small, cosy and very charming auberge in the village centre (in fact, Durbuy has officially been a 'city' since medieval times and now claims to be the "Smallest City in the World" - I don't know if that's true but it certainly is small). We were given, probably, the largest room in the auberge: no. 6; the auberge has about ten rooms, I believe, most of which seemed quite small. The room has a warm, country feel and a beautiful and spacious bathroom. The only downside was that it overlooks the cobblestoned street below and it can get quite noisy in the daytime when the village is full of daytrippers. 

We booked a gastronomic package for EUR 275 p.p. which included a two-night stay, breakfast, a three-course dinner on the first night, a five-course gastronomic dinner on the second night, and a champagne brunch the next morning. All the meals are served at Le Sanglier des Ardennes, a short stroll away. It's not cheap but it's definitely worth every penny! The food on the first evening was very good; the gastronomic dinner on the second night was exquisite and the service was impeccable; and the champagne brunch the next day was simply superb. 

Durbuy is a lovely village in the hilly Ardennes region, with its own castle, and is surrounded by beautiful forests. It is definitely worth a visit, eg. for a romantic/relaxing weekend. I can definitely recommend Au Vieux Durbuy or its sister hotel Le Sanglier des Ardennes. If you do plan to book, opt for a package (ie. room + meals) as these offer great value for money.
