I love staying in B&B’s when abroad and Double Door is exactly the reason why.  The B&B is right in the centre of Bruges, next to the fish market, and within a couple of minutes to the canals, plenty of restaurants, shops and Market Square.  Although it’s right in the centre, the B&B is down a quiet side street so there was no noise to wake us up at night.

I had spoken to the owners, Junko and Pierre, by email beforehand and they were always very friendly and even more so in person.  They gave us maps and a guide book on Bruges and told us all the best places to go and where we could get discounts if we mentioned we were staying at Double Door.

Our room (up some very steep and narrow stairs so not so great if you have big feet!), was absolutely gorgeous.  We had a huge comfy 4 poster bed with netting draped over it and a modern bathroom that all looked like it was out of a plush hotel rather than a little bed and breakfast!

Breakfast was downstairs in the quirky main room where croissants, yoghurts, fruit, cereals, rolls, ham, cheese, homemade cakes and juice were laid out on the table and hot drinks were available throughout the day (Junko made a yummy hot chocolate!).

Even though we didn’t see much of Pierre as he works on the boats on the canal, we talked to Junko quite a lot and they are both lovely people.  The B&B was wonderful for a short relaxing weekend away and I wouldn't even bother looking at anywhere else if I was to return to Bruges.

A perfect stay in the heart of Bruges

The location is great - so close to many of the attractions of Bruges. Having entere, Junko made us at home, gave us a beer and a map and told us what we needed to know to see the best side of Bruges, away from crowds, away from hiked prices and amid the historic heart of the township.
Bruges itself in wonderful, and B&B was our perfect haven to experience it from.

Junko and Pierre are excellent hosts, much nicer then spending a weekend in a hotel with no personal touches. The rooms are spotlessly clean.  Breakfast is enormous, the spread is amazing something for everyone.  Highly recommend a stay here. Pierre is a great tour guide, he told us where to go and how to get there . We had a great weekend.

In Bruges

Welcoming from the start, Junko and Pierre give a locals perspective with the benefit of a travel guides knowledge base.  They made us amazing restaurant recommendations and helped us overcome the language barrier to get reservations.  Breakfast and service quality are top notch.  Safe parking lot only 30 yards away!  Lots of interesting design touches and beds very comfortable.  Huge breakfast very varied and featuring local treats which allows you to skip lunch if you choose.  Within 3min walk and you have the best of everything bruge has to offer.  Best beer, cheese, chocolate shops are close by and numerous pubs and restaurants.  Strongly recommend not staying in a hotel and choosing Double Door instead like we did!

Great Bruge experience

Beautiful B&B. Seriously top-notch! Couldn't fault anything with our stay. The hosts Junko and Pierre are extremely friendly and accommodating - their knowledge of the area and recommendations were excellent. The house and room are spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was vast! A number of different varieties of fresh breads, cheeses, cold meats, croissants, pastries, home-made cakes, fruit, cereal and even cooked-to-order bacon and eggs! Location was perfect. We wouldn't even look at any others if booking again...thank-you so much for our stay!
