Hotel Bichlingerhof

We stayed here before Christmas. Arrival and check in was easy. It was quiet pre-christmas so we had the run of the place and a spacious family room on the top floor. The rooms were well decorated with quality finishes. The Hotel has had a renovation so is clean and modern but tastefully Austrian. The selection of food at breakfast was good and buffet style as most Austrian hotels. There was a nice bar in the hotel for apres ski or a quick drink before dinner. The cost of drinks was cheap in comparison to some French resorts we have stayed in. The half board included four course meals which started with a prepared salad dish, folowed by soup (and optional salad from the salad cart which we rarely had as there was too much food!) main course had three selections per night so plenty of choice for the week. Then dessert. All very traditionally Austrian. Well presented and all very tasty. We were well looked after by the family running the Hotel. In terms of location we were on the edge of Westendorf and a short walk from the slopes and ski hire/lift pass bookings. You can ski back to opposite the hotel. We hired a car so it wasn't a problem getting around Westendorf and it was an easy drive to nearby Brixen im Thale which you could access via the gondola system but its a bit of faff. There is a HUGE ski area to access.
