Great hosts, great breakfast, good advice. Great forest walk, good location for those that want beautiful surroundings only 40 mins from city centre.

OUTSTANDING

Elandil is a perfect place to be refreshed. From taking a guided walk along the ferny gullies on the property, looking out for elusive platypus', to sitting by the sweet little pot belly fire on a bleak winter evening, Elandil is something special. The two course breakfast was absolutely scrumptious, much more than I could eat, and this followed the lovely home made g-f biscuits awaiting my arrival. The four-poster bed gave me the best nights' sleep in ages. It's proximity to Kettering made it the perfect spot to catch a cruise around Bruny Island, where I saw fur seals and albatross, as well as spectacular coastline. Perfect start to my Tassie holiday.

Elvish heaven

Having just passed the 73rd sign saying '5km winding road ahead', our gps told us to turn right onto a gravel road seemingly in the middle of nowhere. For a brief moment I could have sworn I could hear banjos playing. A short drive and we saw the sign for Elandil B&B and pulled into the driveway. No sooner had I switched the engine off when out came tree changers Rob and Ailsa who genuinely seemed happy to see us and welcomed us to their beautiful property. They grabbed our bags and showed us to our room. The room is attached to the house but has a seperate entry and has a really comfortable 4 poster bed, kitchen area, a table and chairs for meals, a nice lounge and a huge bathroom. Everything you need is there. A nice bowl of fresh fruit was there as well as some freshly baked bikkies. Plus a copy of their latest hit CD! Nice.

Rob and Ailsa are perfect hosts and clearly very proud of their property and how much they have improved it in just a few years. They are happy to show you around and take you on one or more of the little bush walks they have created. 

Breakfast is both great in quality and quantity and will keep you going for the day.

As it turns out, it's not in the middle of nowhere but only a couple of kms from the nice little town of Cygnet and not far from Huonville and only 40 mins from Hobart. Rob and Ailsa are very helpful in pointing out the local attractions and sights

So Elandil B&B is a great little place to stopover for a couple of nights in the peaceful forest near Cygnet. You can feel the serenity.

What a pleasant surprise!

We went there and surprised to see it is a wonderful house situated in front of a river. Hosts  have 20 acre-land and you can explore the bush and river without going outside.They introduced a very good value and yummy restaurant.  

They treated us just like members of a family.

Don't miss it if you are on the way to Brunny Island

Really feel at  home

There was a lot of everything at Elandil B&B. I stayed in a self-contained unit at the side of the house. It was fully furnished with a big, comfortable bed, books, crockery, table, chairs, lounge, Sat TV, separate bathroom, and a wood fire, just to mention the most obvious things. Alisa and Rob came out to welcome me and presented me with their CD, which I listened to whilst lighting the fire and settling in for the evening. 

In the morning Alisa brought what I can best describe as 'death by breakfast'. I'm referring to the bountiful offering of a two-course meal complete with home made jam and a pot of tea, all served on nice old bone china. A walk around the property was in order after that - across the lawn to a river track through towering man ferns to a pond that looked as though it could be the domain of platypus. All up it was a lovely stay. Great place and very friendly hosts.
