Hotel Caupolicán is located in the centre of San Martin de los Andes at 1.2 km of the bus-station. The hotel apparently dates from the 19-thirties when Argentine was one of the riches counties in the world. The hotel still is most charming and pleasant. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The hotel and offers 40 rooms over 3 floor. At floor 3 you find a children’s play room, a bridge & chess room and a Finnish sauna. At floor 2 is the breakfast room. At floor 1 is the the nice lobby with fireplace and a non-serviced bar. Free parking next to the hotel. Free Wi-Fi. 

Our spacious suite was nicely furnished and decorated, with a bedroom and a separate sitting room with fireplace, club-chairs & table, fridge and wardrobe. The bedroom had a very good kingsize-bed with good bedlinen, TV on the wall, large wardrobe. Windows can be opened. We had two separate bathrooms, both with toilet, washbasin, bidet and shower over the bath. Daily house keeping working all very clean.

Breakfast is in Italian style with an impressive choice of pastries, bread & toast, butter & marmalade, croissant, cheese and ham, scrambled eggs, orange juice, cereals & yoghurt, freshly made fruit salad, tea and coffee.

We found hotel Caupolicán very comfortable and we had a pleasant stay. Highly recommended.

A most charming & comfortable hotel

This hotel needs a refurbishment urgently. Decor and rooms are very tired and worn and the rooms in particular are very cramped and uncomfortable. Staff pleasant, breakfast good and location central, but if visiting San Martin, there are plenty of better places where a beer in the hotel bar will cost less than $10. Not good value. 

You can do better in San Martin

There have been better times for this hotel but it is still in acceptable shape. The rooms have a real closet, with doors and plenty of hangers, there is a bath tube and the restrooms have real people dimensions.
There is a bar and the surrounding area is decorated with dark wood, old style, very nice.
The staff is excellent, Wi-Fi was not working in my room and they offered to move me to another room with better service.
Breakfast is served starting at 08:00, but the staff also checks-in at that time, so they do their best but they the food in batches.

Outdated but good enough

must commend the staff, which was very nice, 
specifically Gustavo who was up and about at all hours and in every part of the hotel.

the hotel itself could use an update, it's a bit like you walked onto the set of a 1950's Argentinean film set in San Martin.

Shower had good ( great) pressure, 
room was a bit small
breakfast had fresh fruit, nice filter coffee, and other goodies.
well located, parking. 

Price is on the high side, perhaps a lower rate would be a good thing.

Like a walk back into another era

Booked 2 nights at hotel Caupolican and ended up only staying one night.  Room very small and claustrophobic.  Not usually one to give poor reviews to a place but just wanted to forwarn others. The place was just very old and rundown!!  I found another place two blocks away that was much newer and nicer and the same price!! Hint...village
So others beware...this is a very nice town and wondercul time...just beware hotel!!

Dissapointing

Hotel is very well located and specially has very good rates too. Seems a bit old but I really does not care about it. It has a nice living room in the 1st floor so you can enjoy a drink or just relax in front of the fireplace. Food in the breakfast is good serving fruits, juices, coffee amd milk and cereals. I have stayed three nights there and would consider returning another time.
