Terrible customer service, due to heavy weather conditions all flights to el calafate were cancelled. 
Unfortunately the owner himself didn’t show any understanding of rescheduling the bookings. Instead just hang up the phone and did not answer any calls again. Very unprofessional, especially when you were really looking forward discovering the city and flew almost 20hours to get there and then be treated like this, very sad!

Terrible customer Service

Returning to El Chaltén for the second time, we have chosen "Cabañas Rivendel" to stay again: it has a great location, being in the north of the city, near the beginning of the trail to Laguna de los Tres and a short 5-10 minutes walk from the center of the city, being in a most quiet and private area, without the noise and lots of people wandering around that many hotels and hostels have on high season. It has a supermarket next to it, and the La Waflería in the same grounds (with great comfort food options with a good price and discount for guests), as well as several restaurants and panaderias (bakeries) around on San Martin Avenue itself.

The service is excellent, made by the owners, Demian and Romina, always friendly and helpful for anything you need. The Studio room is great, with daily cleaning, and a cozy and comfortable atmosphere, equiped with a mini fridge and a small kitchen with everything you need to do your meals or snacks if you choose to do so. The satellite TV has a wide range of channels in several languages and they also have now a safe to use in the room, if needed. The Studio has a great heating system and hot water whenever you want, and if you come by car you still have private parking space.

It almost feels like we were at home and we just have to thank them for the experience, always an excellent option to rest after the trails with tranquility and great value for money.

Comfortable and Privative Studio, Friendly Staff! Excellent Stay

Our room was spacious with a table and bench. The main bed was big (king?) with plenty of blankets. There was a 2nd single bed that we didn't use. The radiator in the room worked great, as did the hot water. The heat was already on before we arrived so everything was comfortable from the start. 

The kitchenette was really great to have! We were able to meal prep for our hike instead of buying a "box lunch" from one of the shops. We are vegetarians and were unsure what kind of pre-made options we would have, so this was a big plus. There was a hot plate, pots, toaster, microwave, mini fridge, dishes, knives & utensils, some teas and spices. The host said the tap water was drinkable (they drink it) but we didn't try it. 

There was an off-street parking area for our car.

The property is conveniently next door to a grocery store and waffle restaurant, and the trail heads begin nearby. 

We checked in with Romina and checked out with a different gentleman. Both hosts spoke English :)

A side note - If you want fresh greens or eggs, I would suggest buying groceries in El Calafate if possible. We visited two markets in El Chalten and the produce was looking pretty sad at both. (Maybe it was just the days we happened to be there?) Both markets had plenty of canned/instant foods, grains, crackers, and a deli counter.

Very comfortable and convenient

Very comfortable beds, clean and great sized cabin with useful kitchenette. Slight walk from bus terminal but very close to the start of the lago de los tres track! Helpful staff who were understanding when we made an error with the booking. WiFi variable. 

Comfortable visit

We had an excellent stay at Cabanas Rivendel in El Chalten. The rooms, with en suite bathrooms, are spotless, comfortable and spacious, additionally containing a fridge, cutlery and a table for preparing sandwiches or other small meals to take with you while hiking. Bonus: the city's biggest supermarket is literally next doors. The owner was very friendly, giving us a detailed map of the available hikes (you'd have to pay to buy this in any shop or tour centre) and offering advice on tours and transport. The only hiccup is the problematic internet/wifi BUT this is not primarily their fault. Internet is subpar across all El Chalten because of its setup (two antennas with basic cable serve the whole city). All in all, we had a great stay here, we would definitely recommend it!

Beautiful, big, clean rooms, friendly personnel and quaint atmosphere

This is the loveliest place we stayed of our south america trip. The room was clean and nice decorated like we were staying at home. I love that there were the heater in the bathroom also and it worked well. The room is cozy and not too big not too small for 3 persons. The whole outdoor area is relaxing with the welcoming owner's dog :) The best part is that there was 24 hr restaurant located at next door, super convenient for us. The location was great, just 5 minute walk to the base of the walking trails. The owner and other staffs were really nice and willing to help with everything. very impressive stay!

Very good location next to the starting point of trekking. Super nice staff. Lovely place to stay.
