Wild Lotus Hotel

We were due to spend the last few days of our Vietnam holiday in the dragon hotel, 100 yards further down the side of the lake in Hanoi, but when arrived we thought it was awful, so our travel agent found us this place. It was a different world to the dragon hotel, so much cleaner, more stlyish and friendlier. We were lucky to find space in this hotel at such late notice. From the moment we arrived the service was incredibly helpful, every member of the young staff were professional and able to communicate fairly well in English. Our room was similar to the one in the photo and there was a shared kitchen and lounge area outside which continued the stylish and clean theme. We used a hotel laundry for the first time and our clothes returned later in the day folded and smelling lovely. In relation to the rest of Hanoi this seems to be in a more international location, there was a European bar next door selling a massive variety of surprisingly good quality beer and western food, such as pizza (after 10 days of rice dishes this was a delight). You could walk into Hanoi in about 30 minutes. The walk down the side of the lake took you past a variety of international cuisine restaurants and a wine shop that sold wine from around the world. I was hankering after a bottle of red wine so this was a blessing. After staying here we spent our last night of the holiday on a cruise round Halong bay. The staff were really accommodating in letting us drop our bags off at the hotel when we were no longer residents so we didn't have to drag them round Hanoi in the few hours we had free before we caught a late night flight from the aorport. This is a place I would love to go back to. It's only got really good memories attached to it.
