El Viajero La Pedrera Hostel & Suites

People there are amazing, the place y very clean, free breakfast and the environment is very social and friendly. Definitely staying at this hostel again when coming back to la pedrera.

I stayed at the El Viajero hostels all along my trip through Uruguay, it's so easy and confortable, it's a real hostel brand! Much fun and caipirinhas (the barman was Brazilian), and owner also went out with us for a beer!

One of the best I've been to during 6 months of traveling. It's perfectly clean, beds and pillows are comfortable, hot and nice shower, breakfast is fresh and the staff is simply great! I planned on staying 4 nights and ended up here for 2 weeks. Highly recommended! 
ps: if you stay for more than 3 nights, ask for 4th night free! 

We stayed in a private room on the second floor of the courtyard and enjoyed our experience. Private rooms face the back, so they're quiet. They also have private bathrooms with fantastic showers with strong water pressure as well as balconies, which are great perks. 

They do really need to add a mesh sliding door for the balcony though so that it would be possible to keep it open at night and not get eaten alive by mosquitoes (especially since there are only fans in the rooms and no A/C). The staircase leading up to the second floor of the building in the courtyard should also be fixed...the steps are very high and it's very steep, so it seems like a huge hazard. The breakfast is just drinks, bread and jams. 

The location is great - just a 5 minute walk from the center of town and 10 mins from the beach. The staff is pretty helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent hostel

Good updated hostel with nice common areas

The customer service is good, the staff nice and helpful. The atmosphere is quite relaxing and cool. I just didn´t like that they don´t have air conditioner in the bedrooms, so if you you on summer time, this can be very annoying. Also they don´t have anything for the mosquitos.

While I was there I had a health emergency and they didn´t have any contacts of doctors or hospitals, the receptionist had to call a friend of her in the middle of the night, wake her up and ask for any doctor. She didn´t so the girl has to look in the internet and finally found somebody, a doctor who came from a town 40 minutes away.

I think it is very important that the hostel has somebody trained in first aids and also contacts of doctors or hospitals. Fortunately my problem was solved on time, but I cannot imagine if somebody has more serious issues, it would be question of life or death.

The breakfast is so-so...the butter was not enough for all the people who were there and either the places. 

I think if they improve some aspect, this hostel can be one of the best! I definitely would come back =)

Good hostel, nice atmosphere, poor breakfast

I stayed at the El viajero in Montevideo and it was great so I stayed at the one in Punta del Este too. Naturally as I was heading to La Pedrera so I decided to stay at this hostel. Even when I mentioned to the people in Punta del Este, that I was coming here, none of them told me that because of the low season, it shuts down! The place was impossible to find, it is in a poor location and terribly sign posted. Luckily, I rented a car in Punta del Este, as nothing was open, hostel wise this time of the year so I had to back track to La Paloma and splash out a ridiculous amount of money for a hostel. Very poor communication. BEWARE, this hostel and this town, shut down COMPLETELY after about March!
