Lovely friendly staff, but the rooms and decor are starting to get a little "tired".
Digital TV in the room, that would only show 3 channels. Chair covering was pealing on the seat. Our room was directly above the kitchen extraction, which meant lots of noise until the kitchen shut.

Starting to age.

We stayed for two nights over the coronation weekend. We chose the hotel as it was within walking distance of a birthday celebration being held at the rugby club and we could do some sightseeing in the region.
Check-in was efficient and friendly, and our room was well appointed, clean and with a comfortable bed. We stayed in room 4 which overlooks the roundabout. Although I am a light sleeper the room Is double-glazed and noise from the bar is minimal; it closes at 11:00pm.
Breakfast is ordered the night before with a time slot and is cooked to order. Ours was comprehensive and delicious!
On the second night we had a drink in the bar followed by dinner. It’s a traditional bar without music and the staff were friendly and efficient. Dinner in the adjoining restaurant was delicious. This is a family-owned and run hôtel and you really feel everyone behaving like a happy team!
Highly recommended for the stay, the dinner and the overall experience!

After having a lovely meal in the restaurant last week, I returned today to get a takeaway (having picked up a leaflet on my last visit). Having ordered, I was told it would take around 30 minutes, so I said I would get a drink in the Bar while waiting and the girl agreed that the bill would be settled when my order was ready.
On checking the bill, I realised that it was far more than the prices in the leaflet (and there was supposed to be a -10% on that for takeaways), so I went back to challenge it and was referred back to the Manager in the Bar. He said that the prices had "gone up" and picked up the Restaurant Menu to show me. I stopped him and said that I had picked up a leaflet last week and that was what I would refer to for a takeaway and , if the prices had gone up, where were the new leaflets and prices? He replied that they did not have any and would not until next week!
I said that it was wrong that he was charging a non advertised price and he agreed to honour the existing menu (which he should  of anyway).
So, nearly an hour later I went back to the Restaurant and asked when my takeaway would be ready? The girl pointed to some containers sitting on the counter and said they were mine and she would bag them up - I told her I would be in the Bar waiting.
A few minutes later, I turned around and there was the girl pulling pints at the Bar, so I went back to the counter  - where my order was still sitting there.
Another girl was there and she said she would bag it up. I asked several times how long my order had been sitting there (to both her and a chef standing there), but did not get an answer, eventually she said it had just arrived (clearly  not true).
Out of the Pub and home in 2 minutes to a lukewarm meal that had obviously been sitting on the counter for some time with no effort to satisfy either the order or the customer.
It saddens me to have to say that this was a very, very poor experience, but the truth is the truth. My last words on leaving were "I will probably never come back".

A very Poor visit (Takeaway)

we stayed for 2 nights,the room was at the front of the pub overlooking the road and above the bar despite that it was quiet and the room spotlessly clean and quite spacious,walking around the village the people we met where very friendly.

Amazing meal

Beautifully clean surroundings and a very warm welcome. Lunch was rather ambitious, on the large side but we managed it. Delicious food, nice and hot.
 The lunch menu is somewhat limited however it's well cooked/presented and there is an option to choose from the evening restaurant menu.
The Fiddle offers a takeaway service, has ample parking and a beer garden.

So my first review on here about the L&F was fairly blistering as the experience was awful. I am super happy to report that since the change of management and staff, the Lion and Fiddle has improved massively. 
Service, A Class, food absolutely amazing!!! The pints taste clean and fresh the decor brightened and again clean. I wish the team all the success and cannot wait to come back to try more dishes!

Change of Management and Wonderful Nepalese Food

Excellent food - some great prawn dishes and momo is delicious.

It has become a regular spot and provides great service and atmosphere. Nothing less than one would expect from a Gurkha-managed business!

After work drink and a meal

We visited last night for a birthday dinner with friends. 
There is a variety of options on the menu including nepalese specialities - I had a Nepalese potato starter which was incredible. Really beautifully flavoured. 
There are curry options that people would recognise but also noodle dishes and Nepalese specialities. My husband had chicken noodles which were fantastic and I had chicken saag which was delicious. 
All in all I would really recommend this venue and we will definitely be back to try more of the menu.
