Great location for racecourse. Helpful staff. Ideal for a meal and drink and rooms are clean and have everything you require for overnight stays. Car park at front which is ideal and close to town and railway station if you want to visit other towns.

Ideal for racecourse

We stayed locally on our way back from holidays and we didn't quite know what to expect reading some negative reviews.  We couldn't be bothered going into town for a meal and it ended up being the right choice.  We were greeted with a proper Yorkshire welcome by a very friendly barman and 2 ladies in the rear restaurant area.  Ordering at the bar was easy.  It was a really pleasant surprise when the food arrived.  I had a massive chunk of gammon with a fresh slice of pineapple and egg, chips and a delightful green salad with peppers, blueberries and pomegranate seeds (to name a few).  Hubby had a steak and ale pie with chips and some veg (sorry, I didn't take much note of his as I was so chuffed with my food).  Both were delicious, better than some pubs we've been to.  The decoration is unusual for a pub, but we like quirky places, so that didn't bother us in the least.  If we happen to be in the area again and it is the same owners, we'll definitely pop back in.

Don't understand the negative reviews

We stayed one night as we had to be at flamingo land the following morning at 8am. Quick and easy check in. We were given room 4. One double bed and a single for the bairn. Tea and coffee making facilities a tv and en suite shower room. Very clean and very well presented. My one problem was the door isnt covered by a curtain. When sun came up.it was very bright and hot. Overall excellent stay. Meals were good in the pub and very cheap.

Thank you Kelly and Ben for a fantastic stay.  Accommodation clean and comfortable.  Power shower oh yes!  Both breakfast and evening meals have been really tasty.  Not long to wait for meals even though the place was really busy last night. Will recommend to family and friends.  Staff and patrons follow covid rules and tables are cleaned regularly

Great

Stayed here for 2 nights while visiting friends. The pub has recently had a make over and looks great.
Outside area also very nice and welcoming. 
The food was very good pub food and fantastic value. The new manageress was very friendly and service was excellent. 
Will definitely recommend.

Came to the area to visit some friends and came across this lovely pub , Entering the pub with a blessed  apmosphire with a land lady who was serving with a smile!

What a lovely pub this is. Don’t know who the lady behind the bar was called but she had red hair and quite small. Brilliant customer service, very friendly and welcoming. Would 100% come back again and recommend this.

Brilliant Customer Service and Lovely Staff

Clean room, very friendly and welcoming staff, nice cooked breakfast / tea (in the garden as it was a nice day!) , hot shower - all good. Was able to hang around in the adjoining pub after checkout to get my bearings before onward travel.

Would happily stay again if in the area.

Great stopover

Very good value stay at this large pub/eatery with rooms around 1.5 miles from the town centre.
Three of us were starting to walk the Cleveland way and needed a base near Helmsley and Osmotherley. 
Good breakfast and value for money drinks. The rooms are basic but clean and certainly well worth the room rate.

Weekend walking base

Stayed here for work from August till November,  this is place is unique, in all the years I have worked away from home this place has the best staff and friendliest locals ever ,food and drink are a good price and are good quality, rooms clean and comfortable , thanks to Mark and Vicky for looking after me,  nothing was too much trouble ( good luck in your new venture) hope to be back soon 😊🍺
