We stayed one night as we had to be at flamingo land the following morning at 8am. Quick and easy check in. We were given room 4. One double bed and a single for the bairn. Tea and coffee making facilities a tv and en suite shower room. Very clean and very well presented. My one problem was the door isnt covered by a curtain. When sun came up.it was very bright and hot. Overall excellent stay. Meals were good in the pub and very cheap.

Clean room, very friendly and welcoming staff, nice cooked breakfast / tea (in the garden as it was a nice day!) , hot shower - all good. Was able to hang around in the adjoining pub after checkout to get my bearings before onward travel.

Would happily stay again if in the area.

Great stopover

I booked two  twin rooms through their website and eventually received a confirmation email.  I had booked in February for travel early June, so thought it wise to email again to confirm a little closer to the time and again received confirmation.
Yet when the four of us arrived after a long journey they said there were no rooms available. Having booked so early and arrived well before check in I suggested that we  surely took priority... but no. Turns out it was money related as the others had paid  (..and I assume they had jacked the price since I booked ). We were asked to leave. As it was a Bank Holiday you can imagine that all hotels were full.  Thank you Vale of York for ruining what was supposed to be a great break

Go somewhere else if you actually want a room!

I'm staying nearby and wanted to eat on two evenings. Their website says that they are open each evening. But on Sunday 14th November and again on Monday 15th November they were closed for food. I don't have a problem with the closing, but for heaven's sake update the website. I that really too difficult.??

Thank you Kelly and Ben for a fantastic stay.  Accommodation clean and comfortable.  Power shower oh yes!  Both breakfast and evening meals have been really tasty.  Not long to wait for meals even though the place was really busy last night. Will recommend to family and friends.  Staff and patrons follow covid rules and tables are cleaned regularly

My work colleagues and I decided to order a Sunday dinner as we are on a late shift and really fancied a dinner. So we ordered 3 Sunday dinners coming to £28.95 and they were absolutely horrendous. The stuffing balls were rock solid and mushy on the inside, the Yorkshire pudding was dry and stale. The half chicken looked disgusting and was very dry, the veg were mush. I never write bad reviews as I work in hospitality myself and I know how difficult it can be. But do not go here for Sunday dinner!

Terrible Sunday dinner!!

Very good value stay at this large pub/eatery with rooms around 1.5 miles from the town centre.
Three of us were starting to walk the Cleveland way and needed a base near Helmsley and Osmotherley. 
Good breakfast and value for money drinks. The rooms are basic but clean and certainly well worth the room rate.

Weekend walking base

The room could only be described as a cell, when we complained we were given a slightly larger cell. We payed for two nights stay but only stayed for one night and left the next morning before breakfast, we would have left earlier but unfortunately we had drinks in the bar while we were waiting to get our room started. In addition to this we had paid for evening meals to be included in our deal to which the manager had no knowledge or record and obviously didn’t believe me until I showed her my confirmation email.
The whole experience was dreadful, the room smelt unpleasant, particularly the shower room that smelt musty, there was a complete lack of furniture, no chair or table, the beds had no headboards so the walls were stained where people had been resting their heads. 
The pictures depicted on their site have no resemblance to the actual rooms and facilities in reality.
Although I have never personally had the experience this is what I would expect a bail hostel to be like and I would recommend that you avoid The Vale Of York at all costs.

Stayed here for work from August till November,  this is place is unique, in all the years I have worked away from home this place has the best staff and friendliest locals ever ,food and drink are a good price and are good quality, rooms clean and comfortable , thanks to Mark and Vicky for looking after me,  nothing was too much trouble ( good luck in your new venture) hope to be back soon 😊🍺

Friendliest  place I have ever stayed 

Well to be fair this place has had a major refurbishment and prices are pleasantly lower than you might expect. The service is good and although there are two large wall mounted TV'S the volume was either very low or off. The one thing that annoyed me was that I saw three femails and two males smoking (vaping) inside. I really object to this and nobody seemed to think it was not acceptable although all those who smoked went ouside to do so. Because of this I will not go there again.
