A lovely house, the owners very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful room with an extra comfy four poster bed. Delicious breakfast. Ideal place to explore Ironbridge which is within walking distance and the other museums. Local pub serving great meals also in walking distance. Would definitely recommend.

Two days away in Ironbridge stopping at the Calcutts House Ironbridge

A beatiful old property that was spotlessly clean and with super service. Breakfast was very nice. Lots of things to see within walking distance apart from the ironbidge itself. Lovely shops. Teddy bear shop, all products made by hand....delightful. If you love Christmas, there is the lovely Christmas shop open all year. Not a good selection of restaursnts in the area. A tapas restaurant we discovered however was superb. The highlight of our stay was a trip to the victorian village. It was brilliant!

Ironbrige

Friendly hosts and comfortable beds.  Great location for tile museum, River and local pubs. Stayed in Prince orange room which was part on an annexe close to the house. Hosts gave us discount vouchers to save money on museum yearly entrance. 


Lovely place to stay at a reasonable price

We stayed in the main house. The door lock on our room didn't latch, was difficult to put the key in and its screws were coming out!
The wash basin drained very slowly on our arrival, obviously a blockage, and was not rectified during our stay! 
The net curtains were torn, rugs beside the bed were grubby, the shower rail was corroded, the windows were dirty.
The beds were not made throughout our 4 night stay, neither were the towels changed (there was only 1 hand towel for 2 people)! The waste bin wasn't  emptied throughout our stay!
In the Dining Room the tables were "Sticky", the Jam, Marmalade and Mini Milk bottle lids were corroded!  The butter was open and uncovered and left on the breakfast tables overnight!!
The table lamp in the Guest Lounge didn't work. We were told to "Wiggle it". Surely this an Electrical Safety issue?
Information about the area and local Restaurants in the Guest Lounge was out of date, by 10 years in some cases!
In the Guest Lounge all Personal and Confidential Information on Pasr, Present and Future guests was freely available for all to see!!

Other guests were complaining!!

You may ask why we didn't raise issues with the owners!! 
We shouldn't have had to if the property was being run Capably and Competently to the standards expected for a 4 star establishment!!

VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Stayed here for 2 nights recently in the Coach House, we found the room was a bit dark and dingy, smelt very damp and fusty. 
To our amazement the beds were never made up, rooms cleaned or waste bins never were emptied. No clean towels were supplied, in fact the dirty wet towels that we left on the floor, had been put back on the towel rail so as to dry off. On approaching  the owner at the end of our stay as we didn’t want to cause any trouble beforehand, she informed us that because of the problems with Covid, she didn’t want any cross contamination, so didn’t come into our rooms, but we couldn’t understand her saying this when she came in and picked our dirty wet towels off the floor, to then fold them up and placed onto the towel rail. She also commented about that she couldn’t  afford to pay the laundry (towels)on the price charged. I rest my case, we certainly won’t be using this b/b again and would not recommend it.


Very bad experience

Stayed at The  Calcutts House, Jackfield, for two nights whilst working in the area. Fantastic tranquil country house. My room was in the main house and had a four poster bed in it! Stunning scenary around and welcomed warmly by the hosts James and Sarah.  As i was starting work early they accomodated me for an earlier breakfast time which was amazing and i was very grateful for this. My room was beautiful and as a lone female I felt safe and peaceful whilst staying there. A beautiful quirky house and such nice owners. (Breakfast was superb and set me up for the day!) 

Tranquil countryside home.

The host, James, could not have been more lovely. It makes such a difference to have that personal welcome and care, he was a really positive, smiley chap who obviously loves his business even after 12 years. He could not have done more for me, catering for my veggie coeliac (gluten free) diet. The breakfast was the best I've had anywhere, the fruit salad was fresh and great quality, and the veggie gluten free sausages were fab! I am back in Telford for another visit in a couple of weeks, and cancelled the hotel I should have been staying in so I can go back here, all booked. I've only stayed in the coach house because I'm on a budget, but will definitely return to stay in the fabulous rooms with my other half at some point.

5 Star Hosting & Best Breakfast Ever!

We were looking for a very chilled couple of days after a very hectic Xmas and New Year And James and Sarah gave us a great welcome. Lovely house, great position and excellent breakfast Lovely clean room. . Black Swan a couple of minutes provided good pub  food. A really good stay. Thank you both

It’s obvious that the owners simply want you to have a wonderful time. From giving the warmest welcome, to creating a beautiful breakfast and their willingness to help out with a few extra needs, they make your stay very pleasant indeed.
