We stayed at Viner House for a family wedding - five adults and a 23 month old toddler so we practically took over the whole house! We all had lovely rooms, comfortable beds and a travel cot was provided for the baby.  Viner House itself is amazing - extremely old in parts (17th century) with a wonderful inglenook fireplace and a stunning spiral staircase - full of character.  Caroline and Graham were excellent hosts and made us feel welcome and at home, even providing toys for the baby.  They were flexible about check out times etc and very understanding when my son turned up at an extremely early hour!  Free wi-fi, coffee/tea making facilities in all the rooms and a lovely cooked breakfast.  Very reasonable rates in my opinion too.  I would definitely recommend a visit.  It's also only a few minutes away from the highstreet and about ten minutes from the station.

Wonderful house - full of character

Stayed here last night. Fergus and Kate were great hosts and made me feel very welcome. My room was clean and homely, I was given a key to come and go. Breakfast was cooked for me which was amazing and a much needed coffee.  Lovely family who have taken pride in this venue whilst they look after it. 

Great hospitality

Arriving at Viner house late at night, tired and famished, for a second visit. Our hostess came to the rescue and whipped up the most delicious steak and onion rolls. Having wolfed these down we then sat around the kitchen table, unwinding over glasses of wine and admiring travel photographs decorating the kitchen walls. Viner House is old in parts and atmospheric but - despite being only a short walk from Stroud town centre (with its wonderful market) - was really quiet. There is free parking on the street behind the rear garden, although it was pretty full. I shouldn't be at all surprised if they welcomed pets as well as children.

Received a warm welcome, house around 5-10 minutes walk from the railway station and central Stroud. Room was clean and comfortable . Lovely cooked breakfast in the morning.
I would have no hesitation in staying again .

A house with character

Booked 2 nights. When I arrived the lady told me she would not be in the hotel the next morning, if I could make my own breakfast? No problem for me. What I didn't know was that she left just after my arrivel for a couple days, she was also not available when I tried to call her. The husband was there but he went to work and had no time or interest to give service. I was not invited to use the garden or a lounge room. The first morning I could make eggs but the second morning there was only some bread from the day before and musli. There was no choice of food, no yogurt, cheese, bacon,...My room and bathroom were clean and tidy but not the the kitchen. I couldn't lock the door of my room what no pleasant thought was.There was no staff who cared and no choice of food for breakfast. I didn't  felt comfortable or welcome. It was no pleasant stay there and I wanted a refund because there was service zero and a poverty breakfast. The lady didn't want to give a refund she said that I had to tell her that I wanted service, then she had let her staff come in (???). Is it not the responsibility and duty of a hotelowner that there is someone who looks after the guest ?
