Good value.  Super clean room and bathroom.  Despite a main road outside my bedroom, I did not hear the traffic and slept soundly. Friendly locals and good beer.  Convenient for Ross on Wye, about 4 miles. Look forward to staying next November.

My Second Stay

Fabulous stay, lovely village setting but close enough to Ross On Wye and the beautiful area to get out and about.  The staff and locals must be the friendliest in the UK and we cannot wait to go back.

STAYED FOR A WEEK

To break a long journey, booked a single night stay on 13th June.  Covid safety facilities adhered to, felt safe.  Quirky room, but super clean with equally clean bathroom in this historic inn.  My room number 2, is re-portably haunted, no bumps in the night as I slept well in a comfortable bed. Friendly welcome and friendly locals.  Bus stops outside for Gloucester and Hereford, I think every half-hour.  Village shop opposite.  Will book again for a stay in this coming September.  Thank you The Crown.

Good Value Overnight Stay

Went to crown for Sunday carvery with visiting family, baby and dogs. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful and food plentiful and delicious.  We were given a table with plenty of room to cater for dogs and baby paraphenalia. Highly recommend

Great Sunday lunch

Visited here for evening meal, no longer Indian restaurant but an amazing steak house!!! Fillet steak and lamb chops both cooked to perfection, but beware portions are huge!! Very friendly, welcoming pub, locals saying hello on entering made us feel like we lived there

So did Sunday lunch at the crown at Lea.

Good, No!!!! Good is not descriptive enough.

Absolutely superb just about does it but add add three gold stars.

The collaboration between Mr Andrews a well traveled and food appreciator and Mrs Di Alexander The bustiest landlady I have ever known is a food match made in heaven.
They don’t just cook it , they carve it and serve it to you.
But a word of warning, you actually have to ask them to stop carving meat and loading your plate, believe me portion control does not exist here.
A choice of six or seven vedge, only £8.95 .
You can have a starter and a home made pudding if you like for £12.95 but you would have to be a serious eater to do all three courses. Ha ha think man v food.

So to summarise if you don’t like a Sunday lunch that comprises of perfectly cooked beef , superbly cooked pork with crackling, succulent chicken, and whatever else they have decided to cook and yes you can have a mixture, all served with fantastic amounts of well cooked veg, this place is not for you, 
For everyone else it’s an experience not to be missed.

Sunday lunch a must

My friend and I stayed at The Crown Inn from 18th to 20th October 2019, we were not disappointed.  It is a lovely quirky place, lots of history in the building.  The rooms are really nice, a decent size and  spotlessly clean.

The staff were friendly and welcoming,  and the indian restaurant was amazing.  I cannot wait to return,  and highly recommended this place.

Weekend away

I stayed for 5 nights whilst working locally for £36/night. It was excellent value for money. Very friendly welcome. A lovely room, huge bath, very clean. It’s an old charming pub, it was very quiet during the week and a little bit noisy on the Friday night but it’s a thriving local pub so nothing unexpected. I will stay definitely stay again when in the area.

Excellent stay

We loved this place with its 18th century charm, its friendly host and welcoming pub. It was assigned to us on the Offa's Dyke Path and described as "just off the trail" but unfortunately, it was 3 miles off the  ridge trail on Black Mountain  on a steep descent after working for an hour to get UP there. We were tired when we staggered in after a day of walking but we enjoyed the inn. Our room was plain but not too small,  had a bath which was wonderful for my tired legs!  The Pub was friendly but to be honest, it was the worst "Shrimp Caesar salad" I ever had. But the food was not as important to me as a cozy clean room, a good hot bath and free wifi to write my blog with. The host was helpful with advice the following morning about tackling the 3 mile steep uphill to resume the path:. "It's all fogged in and you won't see a thing! Michael can drive you to a closer sport to get on the mountain". It is about the only public establishment in Longtown, so you will met everyone who needs a night out.

A haven for weary walkers, but NOT "right off the trail"!!

Had a long weekend booked at cottage nearby and went in Crown 3 times. Twice just for drinks and once for a meal at the Bangladesh restaurant. Each time the landlord and staff were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. When landlord found out it was my birthday he even gave me a free drink. Would recommend it to anyone. Lovely old pub, great staff and the food in restaurant was fantastic
