Not the place for me on arrival I got my just key that did not work so I reported it to the office the receptionist supplied me with a card and yet again it did not work so went back to the office I found out the receptionist entered the wrong date on the card.
We went to the restaurant for Sunday lunch order dinner after 30 m it arrived on cold plates the gravy was congealed the meat was like over cooked the cheese sauce was lick rubber.
To finish it was the worst meal I have ever received

We have just returned from 3 night stay with mixed reviews.

We stayed in a comfort plus hot tub lodge, upon arrival the lodge was not very clean, all of the curtains contained mould and areas were dusty. 
We also had issues with the hot tub as the button to turn the temperature down and lights on did not work so we had to stick with 39 degrees.

However the beds were comfy and it was sufficient for a short stay with ample kitchen appliances and utensils - though we had no frying pan to cook a fry up! Also recommend bringing your own tea towels and oven glove.

The Blagdon Inn was pleasant with nice food and the staff were very friendly. 

The site itself is in a great location with Paignton sea front less than a 10 minute drive away and Brixham slightly further. 

Overall, it was on the lower scale of price in comparison to other lodges we have visited so I’d say you get your monies worth but the cleaning could definitely be improved. 


Okay for short term stays...

Firstly you are informed that you must pay a £250 deposit prior to checking in, for breakages or damage. I wouldn’t argue this if the accommodation was up to standard, however when we arrived it was dirty and items were already damaged. We stayed in the Orchard Park area of the site, which is currently under renovation and looks like a building site. On our arrival we used the keyless entry to find a tired and dirty property. The place hadn’t been cleaned, or if it had a 19 year old blind tortoise could have done a better job. The hot tub lid was broken and the top all ripped and when we rang and asked about it we were informed that they may be able to sort it tomorrow, but they couldn’t confirm this as they were busy with other customers. 
All of the above you can ignore and get on with your holiday, however on the 3rd night an incident happened which the park dealt with horrendously. 
The part of the park we stayed in had no security barrier, like the other areas, and was accessible from two entrances, one which led onto the main road. Opposite the park there is a derelict hotel, which is probably nicer to stay in, and there are undesirable people hanging around there. Around 10pm my car alarm started to go off, so naturally I switched it off and thought nothing of it. It then kept going off so I decided to go down to the car and check it out. The car parking area is so dimly lit that Florence Nightingale’s candle could probably offered more light, so I had planned to take my phone down as a torch. As I opened the door a woman walking her dog looked up at me as she walked past my car. She then proceeded to gently put herself down on the floor, which prompted me to shout if she was ok on X2 occasions. She did not respond, which is naturally worrying, however she sat up and sat on the floor for some time. After shouting over again with no response I decided to go back inside as something didn’t seem right. I then looked through the window to find her looking in my car windows and standing around the car for another 5 minutes. At this point I decided to call the park security to ask that they check this out. I looked for over 30 minutes for the emergency number, which I eventually found hidden in an email I’d received weeks before. In this time my car alarm went off again and I began to feel concerned for my safety so contacted the police as I felt I had no other option. After the police had left I was able to get through to the night security on the park, who informed me that he’d heard the car alarm go off but hadn’t thought anything of it. He told us he couldn’t do anything that night and that we would have to discuss with reception staff in the morning. 
Fast forward to the morning and we head up to the reception. The guy who dealt with us told us that they could move us but that they would have to downgrade us as there was nothing of the same standard. We agreed to this and made our way to a unit that was absolutely filthy and dirty, with stains of god knows what on the sofa. Off we trekked again to reception to  be informed that miraculously in the 5 minutes we had been gone a higher spec unit had become available. Crazy really as during our first visit they had made out as though the park was full to capacity and that they were being kind giving us a downgrade.  

All in all this place is a total sham. Do not go here if you want a nice holiday, as you’ll return home disappointed.

We had read other reviews before arriving and were a little worried. Turns out we should have been a lot of worried because this place is a hole.

Shocking.

We booked via Hoseasons and got Blue Light Discount on our stay in a comfort plus caravan with hot tub. Prior to arriving my phone was pinging with texts with arrival information and guide to accessing keyless entry. After messing about downloading apps for the key it ended up being an actual key in a lock box anyway, so that was annoying and inconvenient. Also not very personal or welcoming due to not needing to visit a reception. What happened to talking to customers? 

The caravan was clean(ish) had some cobwebs, smears on the window/mirrors but didn’t feel like a deep clean had happened, was just a wipe down. Towels and bedding provided as well as washing up liquid, sponge, black bag, tea/coffee, milk which is good as stayed at other caravans before and these weren’t provided. 

The hot tub was big and square and was tested x2 a day by staff. It was great. 

We ate at the local pub (Blagdon Inn) once and visited for a couple of drinks on different days, this was within walking distance which was good, food was nice and staff were friendly.

Booked a last minute break as we were supposed to be going abroad and wasn’t disappointed. Drove down from Manchester stopping at Port Issac first where they film Doc Martin. Had a great day and did the walking tour but will comment more on the Port Issac page. Arrived at Orchard park at 4pm, had a text telling us our caravan/lodge number but had to download the Just In mobile app to receive the code to access. As we had a spare hour we had a drink and food at The Blagdon Inn. The service  and food were great, highly recommended, just a note that they don’t serve food Tuesday or Wednesday. By 5.30 still didn’t receive the access code and should have as check in was no earlier than 5pm. Went to reception they couldn’t understand why I hadn’t received it so gave me a plastic key. Arrived at the caravan which was a Comfort Plus Hot Tub. Ok size for 2 people. Was clean and tidy, had all we needed including iron and ironing board, cutlery, crockery, pans, the bed was very comfortable. Hot tub was fabulous and was it was checked every day. There is an on-site gym, pool and massage just missing the details of prices and opening/closing times. Overall we had a great week and wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Great visit in a nice park

So  as like many others we should of been in Spain, so we booked this last minute, dog friendly unit, so wasn't expecting a Palace. Paid the extra for early checkin as I beleive a 5pm checkin is far too late when check out is 9am! Found park after going into pub entrance first.  Went to reception paid the top up was given directions to unit and told keyless will work at 1pm.(requested flattish for mobility ). Maintence guy really helpful with directions as reception is in Devon Hills and we were staying Orchard Park even offered to drive and for me to follow. We found it no problem as all signposted well. Parking was away
 from unit and 2 empty plots beside us, not a problem. Well on entry we were pleasantly surprised, so much nicer than the picture on booking Doc. Patio doors from lounge out onto decking almost the length of the van and very wide.( shame we couldn't get a hot  tub one). Everything was as you would expect, then the dogs started sniffing the lounge carpet, on closer inspection this had not been hoovered and was a lot of dog hair from previous guests, called reception and someone came with a hoover right away, good service. I had issues during the stay with the keyless entry( just me being stupid) Maintenance came and tried but got me a swipe card from reception instead, much easier.
I will defo stay again it was so peaceful and a lovely park, staff friendly, will book hot tub next time.

Time to chill..

Our stay was booked last minute as we cancelled our Holiday abroad due to current travel situation so was pleasantly surprised that ther was availability at this site but after staying here it became very clear.
After a batte with a keyless entry system to Orchard park number 61 we were greeted with a 'Comfort Plus' caravan minus the comfort. It didn't represent anything like the photos on the Hoseasons website. I don't work in  business/marketing so am unsure if this is against the law.
We were greeted to a caravan that smelt of stale food, a freezer which had ice creams and lollies from previous guests, a dirty kitchen sink, no fresh smell in the bathroom only a dusty window the list went on! I started to bleach the relevant areas and then realised it was totally unacceptable to clean upon an arival to a holiday home that we paid a premium for like all caravan parks in the UK trying to claw back money from the pandemic.
I went to the park site and told a member of the housekeeping team would be down straight away. A lady came down just expecting to wipe sticky marks off the table so I walked her round the caravan pointing out the areas which were unclean. She made a phonecall to the office and we were given a caravan of the same spec which is used by the maintenance team as she wasn't able to give it a deep clean until the following day. We were unaware of a member of the management team coming to inspect the state of the caravan after I had compained. We had no apology or phonecall asking if the caravan we had been placed in was satisfactory so the customer service was very poor in that respect. I found it very shocking that a cleaner was given the job of being shown of the issues as would imagine some paying customers would have been rude and angry with the state of the caravan.
The living areas was spacious being a 12 ft caravan but the bedrooms and bathrooms were the smallest we have ever stayed in and had minimal storage space. 
The bathroom door doesn't open fully as it is against the toilet. There is minimal space to get in and out of bed in the 'double' and twin rooms. We have stayed in many caravans over the years and this is the worst designed caravan we have ever stayed in. There were no coat hooks so I dread to think where you are expected to hang your coats up if you had a day of rain.
There was no information inside the van about booking any fitness sessions or opening times of the onsite pub . I understand it may be due to Covid but these details could have been emailed along with the instruction email about the key.
We did mange to use the pool , sauna and steam room as were told they were bookable but there was space at the time of our arrival. The changing areas were very clean and the lifeguard /receptionist was very friendly.
We didn't use the pub onsite so can't comment on this.
The onsite shop was very small but there is both an ASDA and Sainsbury's less than a 5 min drive away from the park.
The adjoining park Devon Hills looked like it had all lodges on it so it makes me wonder if the site is slowly converting to all lodges.
There are many of Devon's beautiful attractions just a short drive away from the park so were in the actual caravan park for a minimal amount of time only so we didn't let this spoil our much needed family time making memories.
If the UK wants to increase tourism to it seaside destinations it needs to up its game and provide value for money accomodation. I am sure this site could be made beautiful as it is set in some lovely countryside but has the advantage of being a short drive away from the nearby attractions that South Devon has to offer.

Spend your hard earned cash elsewhere

We stayed in 7 Orchard  Park from 9th to 16th August.  I had booked a "Comfort Plus with Hot Tub".

Our first impressions of the lodge were good but then we realised how small it was!  We have stayed in other lodges and also at Finlake which is also part of the Haulfryn Group but have never seen a lodge this small.  We are a family of 3 - 1 adult, and 15 and 17 year olds, so all adult size.  I had enquired about the width of the beds in advance with Hoseasons (back in May) but although they said they would look into it, they didn't respond to me.  The second bedroom was absolutely tiny.  Neither child could sleep in there so my 17 year old slept on the sofa and my 15 year old took the mattress from the bedroom and slept on the floor in the living room.  We discovered when packing up that the sofa was actually a sofa bed but we were not told this and nor was it on the Hoseasons page for this property.  It said it slept 4, rather than 6.

Apart from the size, the lodge was fine.   It was clean which was my main concern after reading other reviews.  Shower was lovely and hot.  The hot tub was lovely but by the end of the week there was scum around the edge and bits floating in it.  I was sure someone was meant to come daily to check it but this didn't happen.

We used the swimming pool once which was fine, although a little crowded.

To get into Orchard Park you have to go through a barrier which uses vehicle registration plate recognition.  It kept not letting us through so we had to call reception and the out of hours emergency number a few times which was frustrating.

We visited the Blagdon Inn twice, once to eat in and the other for a takeaway.  The staff were lovely, however when we at in, there were 3 errors with our meal.  The menu was also quite limited.

The takeaway menu had much more on it.  However, the food wasn't great - I had fish and chips and couldn't eat the fish as it was so greasy and inedibe.  Takeaway food is booked via the Haulfryn app.

The location of the park is pretty good, with central Paignton only a 5-10 drive away, Splashdown Quaywest only a 5 minute drive and Torquay about a 15 minute drive.  

I had read reviews that some of the lodges at Orchard Park backed onto the busy A road but I hoped ours didn't.  It did and at first I did struggle with the road noise, especially when trying to sleep but you do get used to it.

Overall we had a nice week at Orchard Park but would probably not return.

Nice break but nothing special...

Was slightly nervous on reading a few reviews before departure, but we had booked anyway to replace our Turkey holiday.  Just the 2 of us in a Comfort Plus with hottub.  Getting in was a doddle with the phone access, but I would advise putting on 2 phones just in case.  We are on 3 and O2 networks and worked well with both.  Handy not to have to take keys out!

On arrival caravan (which I guess was no more than 2 years old and owned by the part as opposed to privately was immaculate, as was the decking and hottub outside.  This was except for a burn mark where some bright spark had decided to light a disposable BBQ in the past.

As for any signs of dirt, we didn't really feel the need to use any of the extra cloths and spray we brought just in case.  Literally only issue was a few crumbs when I moved the toaster.  Everything else in the well equipped kitchen perfectly clean.

Park is very quiet and no noise at night and we were overlooking the pub.  We didn't eat there but had a few drinks occasionally and service was always good.

Final facility used was the gym - which was excellently equipped for both cardio and weights.  Really impressed for a gym on a holiday site.

And final useful piece of info.  The Stagecoach Gold stops right outside hourly and it's a 10 minute trip into Paignton.  Get a £5 Torbay dayrider and you can  get everywhere you need to for a great week!

Lovely quite park (Part of Devon Hills) and immaculate Caravan

We had 65 Orchard Park, booked a comfort plus, this it was not talk about false advertising.      There was hardly room to swing a cat in the bathroom and bedroom, serious lack of clothes storage.    No oitside decked area to sit.       No hairdryer or dishwasher.      Fridge was broken with exposed wires. The handyman said just put ot on max and it will work.   The outside was a disgusting overgrown with weeds and bird poo everywhere on the rickety outside furniture.  

Fire alarm was bleeping called and left a message no one came HSE would be interested in this.  

We booked with Hoseasons who said our issue was with the park they are only the booking agent which made me mad as they are the company i booked with.  

To add insult to injury they request £100 security deposit which we have never in over 30 years of caravan holidays been asked for.  

The entrace from the main road needs to be cut back its dangerous trying to get out onto the main road. 

  Its sister park Devon Hills is the rich brother grass cut chalets beautiful and we looked after, if you stay in Orchard park consider yourself a second class citizen....its disgraceful.   Shocking but a shame there is so much potential here if the right management cared. 

After 2 years of waiting for a holiday this was a serious let down but dont expect an apology from the site look down the reviews they never respond.
