Beautiful, clean, with helpful polite staff, nothing was too much trouble. 
Food was gorgeous, quick service. 
Wide choice of beverages. 
Great atmosphere. 
Highly recommend and will certainly be coming back soon. 

The food and service here was 5* 

Went last night for our Xmas dinner and the food was excellent. I had Prawn and Crayfish cocktail as a starter, absolutely delicious and lots of it. Had a Cheeseburger with Pulled Pork for mains, so good and very filling, had to leave some to make room for dessert. Biscotti cheesecake with ice cream was out of this world. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dinner and the service was exceptional, will definitely be visiting again. Wishing this family business a very successful future, they certainly deserve it and thank you for a wonderful night.

Excellent food and wonderful service.

No bulb in the light fitting, only one cup in a double room, hot water came out of the cold tap. No breakfast available.And the room was cold and only heated up by about midnight . At £85 a night it was a rip-off.

Over charged for indifferent stay

Do not have the chicken burger or chicken wings with garlic and cheese dip.
The burger was vial, not really a burger pate, in the true sense of a pate. Just a piece of chicken, that was tasteless. I had to put ketchup to get any flavour!
The chicken wings were very sparce of chicken meat. And the taste was terrible. Maybe Friday is Chef's day off?

Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful staff. We had a two-year-old with us who was looked after very well. They were happy to make sandwiches for us to take away and tweak meals to suit our dietary requirements! The food and bar were lovely. The rooms were also very clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Excellent Weekend Stay

Seems to be up for sale, try Presteigne, Yarpole, Kington or Orleton if you want good eating. Shobden is interesting, walk up the avenue opposite Batemans and you will find the treasure that is the parish church and the remains of a once great house and park

Had a travelzoo voucher which had an extended date so decided to use it before Covid restrictions came back In we both had the salmon starter not huge but beautifully presented and very filling we had the fillet and sirloin both cooked perfectly again not a huge plateful but very tasty we were served drinks at the table my only concern was one group came in and one person stood at the bar and ordered their drinks no mask on my understanding was you sat at your table and were served we were several tables away from them but it should have been corrected by staff the meal was lovely but a little extra care needed 

Mid week treat

Friendly welcome from lovely courteous staff.
Excellent lunch menu, including some organic and vegan ingredients from a very talented chef utilising well sourced and local items - (it's so evident) So refreshing to get away from that sameness and the phoney "home cooking" that prevails in so many establishments at this level. All at a reasonable price for the standard of food.

First Class

We stayed for 2 nights and had dinner both evenings. The room was clean and bed very comfortable with a nice ensuite shower room.  The 2 meals we had from new chef Tom were great and very tasty and well priced. Breakfast was also very nicely cooked and overall we had a very good stay at this country pub. Handy for visiting Ludlow, Leominster, Offas Dyke, Elan Valley. Staff were also very attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend a stay at this pub.

Excellent B and B with great food

Stayed on business. Room ok. Good shower. Food good but maybe too many purées for my liking. The biggest drawback was no phone signal and despite phone claiming WiFi signal it was non existent. Sort this out it would easy be a 4 star review
