Outstanding! Food was excellent, fabulous quality and presentation, service was absolutely fantastic, really knowledgeable friendly staff who made you very welcome. Will definitely return and recommend without hesitation. 

Fabulous New Year’s Eve Meal

We enjoyed a one night stay at this delightful hotel.
A comfortable, friendly and warm welcome greeted us.
Our bedroom was beautifully decorated and the beds ensured a good nights rest - so comfortable.
Breakfast was a joy and came with a complimentary berry smoothie - delicious.

It is a very luxurious place to stay and we will definitely return.

A one night stay in a lovely place.

First visit to the GT, and I was very impressed. The property looks great as you drive up and park. The car park is impressive due to its size and condition. 

On entering the GT you are greeted by friendly, smart and polite staff. Check in was smooth and simple. The room was a good size, modern and clean. Great bathroom.

Dinner started with a cocktail. It was fantastic. My wife and I then chose the Taste of Yorkshire seasonal tasting menu with matched wines. A fantastic experience. The food was tasty and innovative. The wines were exceptionally paired and diverse. The whole night was enjoyable.

All of the GT team impressed with friendly and professional service. 

Great value for money must also be mentioned. A return visit is guaranteed.

Classy, stylish, clean, efficient, friendly… AND AMAZING FOOD.

We booked at the the last minute and so glad that we found a little gem and will definitely be returning to this hotel and it is ideal for taking in the sights of Harrogate, Knaresborough, Wetherby and other North Yorkshire locations. Everything was first class from checking in to the moment we left with all the staff making sure that you felt welcome.  The food in the restaurant was excellent and service second to none. So if you are visiting the area or heading north or south via the A1 and need a comfortable bed and a nice meal in a restaurant with a good ambience, then we don’t think that you could find a better place to stay than the General Tarleton.

A little Gem

Our friends introduced us to this fantastic restaurant. A place I would highly recommend. 
I normally only cook steak at home because I've been so disappointed with restaurant steaks but I took a chance here and I'm so glad I did. The steak was cooked to perfection and the béarnaise sauce was spot on.

Nicely decorated, great service and fantastic food.

Having been recommended to make a visit to the GT, we stayed for a belated Valentine's treat and were not left disappointed !
From arriving at Reception on Saturday afternoon to leaving after breakfast on Sunday morning we were made to feel very welcome by every member of staff we had the pleasure of meeting.
The choice of food and drinks were excellent (special mention to Jolanta for her gins and cocktails 😉) and nothing was too much trouble for the very knowledgeable  team whom the manager should be very proud of.
Our room was spotless. with a massive comfy bed and nice hot power shower in what was a modern, well appointed bathroom.
Don't hesitate to book....we will definitely be back as soon as we can !

Made to feel very welcome

For a number of reasons, extended business travel, Covid, etc.. I wanted to re-discover this well known establishment.
From the VERY moment I called to confirm opening hours etc.. Jane - Head of Reception services was amazing! warmth, professionalism, response!
Having been 'enticed' by Jane to renew my acquaintance, my first visit was greeted by the wonderful bar/brasserie team of:

Louis, an international hotelier of unbelievable experience!.

Supported by other delightful colleagues Fran and Yolande!

It is going to be difficult for me to 'renew' my acquaintance..on a daily basis!

Wow!

Absolutely amazing hotel, every single member of staff so helpful and friendly, food was super, so delicious, we had a 3 course dinner and breakfast and could not fault anything. Cocktails and wine list really great.
Rooms were wonderful, very clean and bed so comfy. We will definitely be returning, thank you for our stay.

Amazing!!!

What a night!!! 

We visited the GT as a birthday treat and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in (late 🤦🏽‍♀️ oh the joys of parenting) to the moment we left, the staff were incredible. Perfectly attentive and very accommodating (we brought the baby with us). The bar staff were knowledgeable about wine pairings and also appeared with iced water as soon as we had finished eating. 

We started with the fruit de mare and oh my word the smoked salmon was out of this world. This was followed by the steak/ the duck which were equally as mouth watering. The big man ended with a whiskey whilst my sweet tooth needed a pudding and the crumble hit the spot perfectly. 

We would strongly recommend you to visit this excellent establishment for a night of culinary excellence. 

Amazing!! 

Stayed here one night and found the hotel outstanding. The promotional photo on trip advisor makes the hotel look a little like a pub, this couldn’t be further  from reality. Beautifully designed, super clean, professional friendly staff (especially the wonderful Nicholas), superb comfortable, well appointed rooms. This might sound like I have shares in the place - I wish! The restaurant is five star and the Romanian barman (sorry didn’t get his name ) pours the best drinks we had on our UK European vacation. I’ve stayed in some of the best hotels in the world and although on a smaller scale I’d rate the General Tarlton 5 stars!! Highly Recommended!
