We were a group of 12 people, we paid in advance to finally sleep at the reception's and the kitchen´s carpet and some were lucky and could sleep on a smelly couch in the kitchen, without getting our money back because there was a concert that day and there was overbooking... and of course, we didn´t even get a proper apology from the responsible person, I would never recommend  this hostel nor even to my worst enemy...it was the worst experience ever ...we tried to complain formally but they ignored us and they made us waste our time as well as our money until we finally gave up, I was really ashamed of the treat we got there...

Stay city hotel easy to reach. Rooms are clean. Kitchen and plates everything in kitchen clean easy to use. They have everything what you need. Only you must buy what you want to cook. Silent place. 25 min walking to castle or new city. 5 min walking to tesco. I advise it

I stayed at this hostel for 2 nights and can honestly say it was the worst place I have ever stayed. 
Getting into the property was the first hurdle, waited outside for abouy 5mins to be let in after ringing the doorbell. 
The staff were okay... not the warmest of greetings, but polite enough.
The room i was in was fine, although the beds werent all that comfy and the door creaked every time it opened (which seemed to be A LOT through the night!!). And dont expect to find a power socket any near your bed.
The shared kitchen was noce and big, not exactly clean or tidy.. but usable.
The bathroom was disgusting. Shower had wads of hair around it and was so dirty. It wouldnt drain either, so a plunger was left in there. So gross, felt like i needed a shower after being in there!!!
Toilet ran out of toilet paper and no staff around to be able to get more. 
Wifi was absolute rubbish. In the welcome email they send it actually says not to expect much from the wifi "we know it's slow", yet in their ad it says they have high speed wifi throughout the hostel. It only works in the common areas and even then, it hardly works!!
You can definitely get better places to stay for a similar price in Edinburgh!

Worst hostel experience ever!

One of the worst hostels I have ever been to, didn't expected miracles for the price, but the place was dirty, WiFi not working during night and unstable during the day, not very friendly staff "wait 2mins until I finish my email", confusing entry, no social room and cooker automaticly turned off after 10pm, so you can't make yourself even an eggs.
However, just for sleeping not that bad - in fact the bed is fine, sheets and duvets are clean, but do not expect anything else.

Bed for cheap, everything else terrible

Arrival at this hostel wasn’t great - I arrived around 7pm, and to a fairly cold uncaring greeting and confusing entry. Apparently I should have received a code via email that granted me access to the building and the guy behind reception was practically refusing to speak to me until I found it. Then another 2 separate groups arrived - also with the missing email problem forcing the guy to just manually deal with us and check us in. 
Not great. As a local/English speaking Scot, I could understand what was happening - however had I been a foreign tourist, it would have been very confusing and potentially stressful.

The actual accommodation was pretty decent. Comfortable clean bed, bathroom attached for the room - plenty space and clean. And a small kitchen area also within the room. I didn’t use the shared kitchen / dining area so not sure what it’s like. 

The actual city location is great also.   Less than 10mins to walk to the airport bus (which is why I was staying there), close to princes st, Waverley station and a safe place in Edinburgh. 

Change the staff on arrivals attitude and you would have had a 5* review. 


Bad Customer service, but ok hostel

Horrible!! Our room was very dirty, especially the bath with a toilet, shower and sink in one small room for 12 people. The room smelled of weed even though it was marked as a non-smoking-accomodation!! When finally a person appeared at the reception the next day, we explined him our situation and that we feel extremely uncomfortable. He told us in an unfriendly way that he couldn't do anything for us reffering to the cleanness (someone pied on the floor in the only bathroom we could use) and the person who smoked weed (in a non-smoking-room!!). He told us we should have booked an appartment instead of a hostel if we wanted a clean accomodation!! Really??! We booked for 4 nights but left after one. Unfortunately we couldn't cancel the rest of our booking even though we had enough good reasons. I would definitely not recommend this accomodation! There are far better options in the centre for the same price!
