I’ve stayed here before and will definitely stay again but only because it is convenient. The room was far too hot, and I remember it being hot when I stayed before. It does make for an uncomfortable nights sleep. There were some idiots banging doors and shouting down the corridor at 3am, not the hotels fault but it did frustrate an already uncomfortable night. The staff were not particularly welcoming. I get like a disturbed their conversation when I checked in rather than feeling welcomed. And when I was given the key I was just pointed “Your room is that way” and that was my only direction. Bar service was slow but reasonably priced. Parking is easy, you just tap in your reg and it’s £6 for 24 hours.

Really poor standard generally.  Hotel room was dirty and worn. No aircon working, noise from room above, dirty bathroom, poor coffee/tea facilities.  Shower terribke and diffucult to use given the worn controls and the tray didnt drain whilst using.Staff pleasant enough, food very average.

Tired hotel, pictures dont show it!

We were having a meal in Bawtry so thought we would stay over rather than getting a taxi home, in future we will get a taxi. Dark bedroom making getting ready not very easy, bathroom was unclean - mould and limescale all over bath, shower head & tiles. To top it all off the wedding that was being held there over spilled into the car park right outside our bedroom where we had to endure arguing and someone being sick. It’s not a cheap hotel but they’re riding on their name which if people carry on having these experiences then their name won’t mean much anymore.

Disappointed

We seem to visit Bawtry and the surrounding area fairly regularly at present, but never been enticed to stay for food as we always have to get home before the restaurants open.  However, this time we decided not to rush back and to stay for a Sunday dinner and chose The Crown.

Welcome at Reception was friendly and we ordered hot drinks to warm us up while we made a decision.  I always check out the menus for any restaurants or pubs online so already had an idea of what I wanted and despite being a fussy eater, there were a couple of starters and main courses that I liked the look of.

We had to fetch menus for the restaurant from the restaurant itself rather than them being available in the bar area, but that was a minor inconvenience.  Having chosen to stay for the food, we were offered a booth or a table and soon ordered drinks and food - both of us opting for the roast beef dinner for main.

Starters arrived promptly and were very tasty.  We were offered the food for the next table a couple of times before ours came out of the kitchen correctly, but potatoes were delicious and the beef was thick cut, but lovely and tender.  Yorkshire pudding needed to rise a bit kore, as it was dense in the middle.

We couldn’t find the room for any desserts, as the main course was so filling.

Not a bad price and quality of food was very good.  We would come again and likely will when we next visit the shoe shop in town or one of the independent businesses in the centre of Bawtry.

Very enjoyable Sunday dinner

A huge thank you to the Crown for hosting our charity ball. Everyone was absolutely incredible and I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done.
All our guests said how impeccable the food and service was and there will definitely be a lot of people returning to The Crown in the future.
I just want to say a special thank you to Tori for allowing us to have the beautiful room and Tony who was absolutely amazing yesterday and put my mind at ease if I were unsure of anything. The rooms were fantastic value for money, very clean. Breakfast the next day was fantastic.
Thank you so much to everyone at the Crown, you have all been truly amazing.

Fabulous food and hotel

Booked 8 bedrooms to stay at Christmas for a works Christmas party, every single room was dirty! The executive rooms are so bad, it stinks of chip fat in the corridor. The wine at the Christmas party was bad no one could drink it, everyone was complaining. The food was very average for £60 per head. It’s a shame as the crown used to be a nice hotel. It’s in desperate need of a renovation

Dirty!

Overnight stay for my birthday.
Double room was spacious, well decorated and spotless 
Ate in the restaurant ( teriyaki salmon) and it was delicious. Breakfast was great quality ingredients cooked to perfection,, even the poached eggs. All served promptly and piping hot although spoiled by the air con which meant it was cold before we had chance to eat it all. Only a couple of issues, awkward to reach around the shower screen to turn on it on without getting soaked in cold water and even.more difficult to fill kettle.which wouldn't fit under the basin taps
Disappointed that you now have to.pay for parking, although £6 for 24hrs isn't too bad
Looking forward to a return stay later in the year

Birthday stay

I stay in a lot hotels , of various quality, I arrived late at the Crown at parked outside, thought space belonged to the hotel, it didn't 
Got a ticket the next day ...this is not the  fault of the hotel , it's down to me not seeing the signs ..but be aware ! 

But the Hotel is certainly past it's best , bed very uncomfortable, staff unhelpful apart from the excellent lady at Breakfast, who was very good 

When I asked for crisps or nuts at the bar , told there was a garage down the road ..I smiled

Don't forget anything as it won't be returned...left in a in rush ..leaving my earbuds in the case ...they disappeared..which is unusual these days ...again my fault ..but you do normally find things get handed in 
Chased this three times ..hotel receptionist not interested..seemed to find it funny ....

Not good value for money but biggest issue was a lack of care/attention to detail for me. Carpets in hallway and restaurant unhoovered, had to ask for the barmaid to come to the bar (sitting in reception), nobody to welcome/seat you at breakfast, dodgy handle in the bathroom, a kettle you couldn’t actually get under the tap in the bathroom to fill it, incorrect invoice, not asked if everything was ok with the stay, private parking company now installed to charge residents for car parking. All small stuff in themselves but added together made it a poor experience. 
Told by staff in restaurant not to pay tip on card as it would not get to them if we did - maybe that is a cause of the small stuff being missed.

Lack of care/attention to detail

Very tied rooms and facilities, the hotel itself was ok and clean but the hotel rooms were of poor standards and very dated.
