I booked this as a getaway with my girlfriend for valentines, Vicky was so accommodating with putting up valentines decorations for a surprise for my girlfriend. Communication was excellent throughout our stay, ready to help with any queries via text. We also were upgraded rooms with no extra cost which was amazing! Can’t thank Vicky enough! Would definitely stay again.

Amazing trip, excellent host

I booked this accommodation on booking.com for me and 2 friends who were travelling to the area for the MacMillan Mighty Hike, 26 mile walk. On first arrival…what a view! The scenery was stunning! There is, as mentioned in previous posts, a half built country house, when finished will be stunning! The apartments look like they were possibly part of an office block at some point in the past. The apartment we stayed in was beautiful, towels and bedding of a very high standard and exceptionally clean. I would highly recommend, it was the most peaceful nights sleep I’ve had in a long time. The local pub, The Clickham Inn, 2 minutes walk away served the most delicious food. I will return at some point in the future. 

A hidden gem!

Apartment was Lovley . The building it’s self let it down , the apartments are above a motorbike shop and there is a derelict mansion next to the apartments. Also very eerie  at night as there is no outside lighting and we was the only ones in the building . Very odd and strange place

Strange place

Really lovely apartment, ideally located in a quiet, rural location just outside Penrith. It was a perfect base for our family to visit Lowther Castle and Ullswater. The pub down the road, The Clickham Inn, is exceptionally good.
Communication from the owners was great and arrival was smooth.
Driving in, you're met with large automatic gates - we found that the key fob for these was temperamental and always took a few tries to get the gate to open. The apartments are above a motorcycle business, and next to a large building which is being renovated, however we didn't see anyone else there the whole weekend and neither of these impacted on our stay at all - I would suggest ignoring previous over-dramatic reviewers, as it wasn't 'odd' or 'uncomfortable' in the slightest. 
We stayed in Blancathra View which was impeccably clean, well decorated and comfortable. It has large wrap-around windows displaying a fantastic view. It was plenty large enough for our family of 4, well equipped and the bed was particularly comfortable. 
We really rated this apartment and would definitely return.

Ideal location, lovely apartment

Lovely area and wonderful place unfortunately The family are building a modern stately home at the side of the studios which is only half completed.
There have been deforestation of Christmas trees and unfortunately on our stay a 360 excavator and large root bonfires smoked the landscape with rolling bare acres of red soil.There was a nice chap washing the drive with a diesel industrial power wash for the full duration of our stay and 9am until 6pm the noise of a 360 digger.Not my idea of a retreat.

We had suffered a bereavement and wanted some peace and quiet.

We confronted the nice owner by accident in front of the private motorbike reception area,owner nicely replied oh he will be finished at 6 o’clock each day! We were told to email Vicky the manager who never replied to us properly but kept promised to do so.

When the works are finished it will make a nice place   over a private collection of motorbikes one the front is painted and pavings steam cleaned and garden tidied up,

The studios and areas inside are clean and lovely 9/10.

It’s just a shame of the noise smoke and building works, perhaps these can be carried out when guests are not staying or at least let them know or reduce the rates to reflect this.

We were very disappointed for the money paid and not informed of such works prior to arrival. We did ask for a partial refund to cover 4hrs each day the noise smoke etc disrupted our stay, rest of time we were sight seeing or asleep, but no response.

We hope this helps other families here as to the building works and very spoiled views at peak season until rectified.

We do not comment on sites like this but thought that other families might benefit from our honest review.

Family Retreat 2 night stay on the 2nd and 3rd august 2022

Do not be fooled by photographs as we were. I've never felt the  need to review anywhere before but we booked for two nights and did not stay more than 5 minutes. My poor review has somehow been removed from booking.com, property misrepresented in photos, it's actually a flat made from offices above a disused motorbike showroom, next to a derelict building, very odd indeed.

Left without staying

My partner and I were visiting a poorly relative in April and needed somewhere to stay overnight so save a long drive back late. We booked to stay in Penrith Retreats, and we are so glad we did. The apartments are away from any bright lights or busy roads, so it’s very peaceful and you can see all the stars perfectly. The communication from Penrith Retreats was great, we were given detailed instructions on where to find the keys and how to access them from the drop boxes. Everything was contact free, we were the only people in the building due to lockdown, but we felt comfortable. I have noticed other people mentioning the building next door as an issue - I have to admit I was a bit nervous as it was dark when we arrived and it was quite eerie- but when you’re surrounded by the amount of space that’s entirely your own, I think they’re just being a bit picky. The room itself was pristine, and very spacious. Exactly how the pictures looked. There were clean towels, cooking utensils etc and even tea and coffee. The next day we spoke to the staff member who had been helping us (I think her name was Vicky), who had been in touch with us throughout our stay to ensure we were settled okay. She allowed us a late check out to get ourselves sorted before we left the next day. I can’t thank the staff enough for being so kind and helpful. We will definitely be making a return trip once things are a bit back to normal, and actually be able to enjoy our stay a bit more and relax!

Perfect

Pretty basic and a bit remote.  More like a bedsit than an apartment, but it's not too bad for a one or two night stay.  It would benefit from a bit more care and attention to detail in terms of the décor and provisions.    

Short Break

Communication from the property was excellent—-but I have got to start with our first impression upon arrival. Nowhere does the listing or pre-arrival dossier mention the exterior condition of the building let alone the derelict property next door. You enter through impressive looking gates but quickly are confronted with what looks like an abandoned hospital or asylum. (Sounds harsh but we spoke with two other guests that had the very same reaction) 

It takes some figuring out even after sitting and re-Reading the joining instructions. 

Ok that’s the bad news.

Once you get into the apartment- Benreath View was ours - the view out the front window is impressive! The side window however is the derelict building. 

The apartment is very clean. Well kitted out with Ikea furniture. Very comfortable bed. Great sized shower. 

We paid for two nights but left after the first as it was just a awkward feeling stating it what appears as an abandoned property to a large extreme. Our choice. 

Had the pre arrival info prepared is better our expectations would have not been so far from what we saw when we arrived. 

Consolation? Great pub just down the road with super food and service. 

If you read this book by its cover you would run

What a wonderful place it was. Away from everything and nice and quiet. The views were lovely. We booked the Blencathra view studio apartment. The corner window view was amazing. The whole room was very clean and tidy and everything looked brand new. Really nice decor, comfy bed and a nice bathroom. The room has everything you need for your holiday. There was no staff at the reception desk but that’s okay because they email all the details very clearly. You get your own key fob for the electric gates (locked in a key safe) and then you pick your room keys from outside the main door of your room which are also in a coded key safe. Highly recommended. You are away from any noise but if you needed shops then they are only a couple of miles away.
