Two terraced houses on a grimy housing estate which were run down and in a poor state of repair.

This was a clear misrepresentation on the part of Yew Tree who led us to believe in all their correspondence and their web site that these were an apartment type complex and that numbers 39 and 61 represented rooms and not the number of terraced houses on a council estate.

We immediately telephoned the number given on our e-mail but the flustered young girl said she could not do anything and we should just make a formal complaint.  I then got in touch with Barclaycard to deal with the problem.  

We did in fact check over both houses and also noted several matters that meant that we could not stay there in any event:

1) Ceiling rose in bedroom had no cover and live bare wires were exposed. This was directly over the bed and, I would think, illegal. (Health and Safety issue).
2) Damp patches on ceiling in bedroom.
3) Rotten windows 
4) No step at front door of 61. This was a depth of 6 standard bricks and not suitable for children or elderly (Health and Safety issue)
5) There were three men cooking and eating outside their front door from a brazier fire, only a few yards from No 61. Our impression  from their language was that this was an estate mainly used for housing migrant workers and definitely not a secure hotel/apartment.

DO NOT STAY HERE - SIMPLY DREADFUL

Oh My God! Where on earth shall I begin? This place is where the local council appear to house waifs and strays when they've been evicted from elsewhere. The place is full of "long term" guests and one look at them tells you all you need to know! I was going out in Slough for the night and didn't want to drive so booked in here for one night. When I returned it appears I interupted to residents in the middle of a drug deal and ended up staying in my car on the street............nuff said!!!!
