What a lovely place to end a very nice walk across the Gorge just a stones throw from the hotel, even though we do not live that far away from here, it was a real pleasure to stay, the service and staff are fantastic, very gracious and helpful, Lemon room was a treat and highly recommended!. We met Will the chef who creates a superb range of food and is totally committed in providing locally sourced sumptuous food, i was surprised by how much choice there was for all the courses, especially the desserts (the Ale Sticky Toffee pudding was awesome!). We will most certainly visit again as the cost of a night with a fantastic meal, was more than reasonable and we have already recommended this to our friends.

A perfect place to stay and eat after a long walk.....

Mill End Hotel is one of the loveliest places we've ever stayed. The bedrooms and communal areas are beautiful, the food is wonderful and the staff are all great - nothing is too much trouble. This is possibly the 10th time we've visited and we will be back.

Brilliant stay.......again!

A fantastic hotel for a relaxing stay - and the food is wonderful!

Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return! Very relaxing hotel, such friendly & helpful staff, great food, lovely room/bathroom, cosy & comfy lounges, lovely garden & outdoor area & all in a great location. Couldn’t fault it & wished we had stayed 2 nights!

Great overnight stay with dinner for my birthday.

We booked a three day luxury break over New Year, and we were not disappointed - we had a thoroughly relaxing time. 

The staff were welcoming and cheerful at all times. They could not have been any more attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. Really efficient, and everyone carried out their roles well - the only exception being the young lady who struggled to open a bottle of wine and then pour it!

Food , glorious food! An amazing range of outstanding dishes kept us well-fed for our three dinners. The chef and his team showed off their skills with some excellent touches. Every dish was well-balanced, well-seasoned and showcased fine local produce. The New Year's Eve banquet included a tasty Amuse Bouche, Artichoke gratin, wild seabass, Dartmoor venison, a delicate lemon posset and a Mont Blanc pear dish - portions just right, balance of dishes brilliant.

Wines - the matched wines for NYE were just right, and generously poured with a "heavy hand"! The wine list is eclectic, and should satisfy any palate.

And so to bed......our room was at the top of the hotel, and thus was pretty quiet, although the water tanks above were a trifle annoying. The bed was large and very  comfortable - excellent bedding. Comfortable chairs, a good refreshments tray and a fridge helped with our relaxation. The bathroom and its accoutrements were all good, although management might consider a curtain over the (albeit frosted) window. The housekeeping staff were invisibly efficient - thank you. 

You need to like dogs to stay here! There were quite a few staying, and they are thoroughly welcomed, if their owners behave! 

This was a memorable stay for many reasons, and it would be difficult to fault any aspect of the stay with anything other than minor, nit-picking criticism! We loved it so much we even went off with the room key,  but when I called this oversight was dealt with so professionally that my guilt melted away!

New Year in comfort and repose

We went to mill end for the first time last weekend and were blown away by everything, especially the food!

While we expected good food because of the 2 rosettes, we really didn’t expect it to be as good as it was, especially for £45! We were given canapés and an amuse bouche which was a lovely surprise and made it extremely good value for money as effectively 5 courses!

Breakfast was equally as great, I had lovely fluffy pancakes which is so rare! My partner had the eggs Benedict which was also great.

We stayed in walkham which was a large room for a standard, although it is up a lot of stairs so wouldn’t recommend for those with disability problems!

Overall it was great value for money and they really did exceed expectations at every point; thank you!!

Great value for money! 

Meavy Room tired but adequate. Nice clean functioning bathroom. Poor evening meal 2 courses for £37.50. My starter of black pudding scotch egg was ok but my wife's scallops were undercooked and cool. She trained in cooking for the catering industry so she knows how they should be cooked!  We both had the same main course of rump of lamp. A Manderine size piece of rare lamb tough and tasteless with something that looked like a croquet potato/findus crispy pancake filled with minced shoulder of lamb, a dessert spoon size portion of mashed potato with herbs and a dessert spoon size portion of greens. We didn't bother with dessert and ate out the next evening. 
We booked on booking.com and paid via credit card to them. Later received an email from the hotel quoting another higher price. I checked with the reception before we arrived to confirm the booking com price. Yes that's all sorted. On our final invoice we were asked to pay again! Hopeless admin. 

Excellent breakfast Poor Dinner

We spent two nights at Mill End with their Valentines package: included cream tea, Prosecco and chocolates. We had dinner there both nights: delicious food well-presented. Great selection of breakfast options. Staff friendly and well-trained. Room and hotel comfortable and clean. Lovely walk into Chagford and easy drive on to Dartmoor.

Valentine’s break

We spent 3 nights at Mill End recently, and had a really enjoyable stay.  From the minute we arrived, we were made very welcome by all of the staff. Delicious food, and plenty of it! The bedroom was very comfortable and the lounge a cosy place to relax before dinner.
Our two dogs were well looked after too, with biscuits waiting in our room on arrival, and sausages at breakfast - much appreciated by them! They were allowed to stay with us while we ate in a small room with just three tables.
There is a beautiful walk nearby, along the river - perfect for our dogs who are not able to walk for miles.
We're looking forward to visiting again!

Superb stay

All the 5 Star Reviews are SO warranted !
We stayed at Mill End last week for 2 nights .  What a joy it was too.  Great Staff, log fires, large well furnished and warm room, with a balcony and great views.  Bathroom with roll top bath and large stand alone shower, all enhanced by top quality bathroom fittings.
We thought the Dinner both nights was outstandingly good .  Items cooked to order, beautifully presented and a Kitchen Team that clearly were at the top of their game.
Breakfast excellent too with a wide cooked choice.
So I can only say that it was a great Stay and we will be back - so much fine Countryside right on the doorstep too.
A gift of water, a quality pen, sweets when we left was a lovely way to finish a great 48 hr stay.
