We stayed over Christmas (24th/25th). The hotel wasn't open on Christmas day but their sister hotel/pub (The County) across the road provided all the necessary services (eg. breakfast, additional room refreshments etc). The stay got off to a good start when the lady I spoke to when booking was very friendly and helpful. I later worked out this was Fiona, the owner of the business, who clearly knows how to provide great customer service. We then received an email shortly before the visit with helpful additional information on parking. This was followed by a call from FIona to check we had arrangements for food on Christmas day, knowing the hotel wasn't open. During the call Fiona provided a helpful list of other restaurants that they recommended ranging from italian and indian to mexican, tapas and french bistro. 
On arrival we were welcomed by the team who also provided additional parking information (the local knowledge was very helpful and saved us a lot of car moving during our stay) and were happy to lend us things for our room eg. plates! 
On Christmas day we were made welcome at the sister hotel (The County) where we were able to have a lunch time drink and complimentary mince pies.  A perfect treat before we went out to dinner at a local Indian Restaurant. Both restaurants we went to were recommended by Fiona and were excellent - see individual reviews. 
We will definitely be back in the future. Thank you to the team.

Excellent Christmas Break

The hotels location & staff were great. We had a very comfortable room with king-size bed and a modern large bathroom with shower.  Breakfast each morning in the pub was most enjoyable.  Cant say enough about how welcoming the staff was and everyone from the bar tender to housekeeping. Would recommend a stay and don't forget to have a meal and pint in the bar room.  We enjoyed our time and never experienced a problem with noise or the "locals".  Everyone was gracious and fun to be with. Not sure why but the updated pictures of the renovated property are not what is show here. Booking.com has the latest photos and a much higher rating.

recently renovated and worth a visit

We had a lovely stay at the Coach and Horses, very clean and comfortable, lovely breakfast and food. We where given a warm welcome. Everything was perfect. We managed to park our motorcycles on the road opposite the property which we could see from our room window. Parking was free from 5pm - 9am and we where given a disc from 9am-11am which is when they needed to be moved til 5pm. All day Free parking was available at a car park close by.  We will definitely return if we are ever in the area again.

Lovely stay for 2 nights

Just passing through, we had lunch and drinks in the bar. Food was fantastic, generous portions, compliments to the chef. Lady behind the bar was brilliant.
Service was excellent (thanks for the gravy on the side). Overall a very pleasant experience, would definitely recommend, and we’ll be back next time we’re in Hexham.

I have stopped at this hotel many times,staff are always helpful and freindly,food is good ,always have a good selection real ales on which suits me.

Could do with providing a shower cap. Apart from that, everything was fine

Eva was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room was lovely, recently refurbished and included little extras like toiletries and coffee, tea and biscuits which were a welcome addition. I would have loved to have stayed longer than the one night!

we stayed at the fabulous Coach and Horses Hexham,for a nostalgic weekend . This was the first time I had  been back to Hexham for almost 55yrs. I cannot sing the praises enough of a young man called Ian I think he was part of the management team, who went out of his way to make us feel relaxed and comfortable. Ian also arranged a fabulous evening with a wonderful childhood friend of mine, whom he coincidentally knew. All of the staff were very attentive, the rooms were pristine and the food was great. Thank you to all of the staff but especially Ian, for making this such a truly memorable weekend. Cannot recommend highly enough.
