On arrival we were met by Gemma and shown to our room it was spacious and clean. There was a problem with the radiator so we were given a heater which was adequate. Bed was comfortable and shower was really good. We had evening meal here there was plenty of choice on the menu and all the produce is locally sourced. Breakfast was as good as evening meal. The inn has been refurbished it is done out to a lovely comfortable standard. The staff here are lovely and so friendly very professional. I couldn't recommend this place enough. Homely and comfortable 

My husband & I were staying in Castle Douglas for a family wedding. Popped in by chance (without booking) after reading reviews. The bar & dining room were very busy but the staff couldn't have been anymore accommodating & managed to give us a table. Our meal was delicious, excellent quality, large portions & very reasonably priced. The staff were extremely pleasant and very attentive creating a lovely atmosphere to dine. Having had such a lovely evening we booked a table for another visit. We would highly recommend this little gem if staying in Castle Douglas.

Great Find in Castle Douglas

Stayed overnight and had lunch and breakfast. Staff are very friendly and very helpful. Lunch and breakfast were lovely. The rooms are very nice and comfortable with recently renovated en suites. A few different bars within the building, great fun place to stay? 🍷 🍹 

Overnight Stay

Went for dinner with mum and dad, the service was amazing from the moment we walked in till the moment we left. Food was quick and delicious. Highly recommend. Will defo be back, value for money was great

Amazing experience

What a fantastic place! I stayed over as I was going to one of their party nights and it was a great experience! The staff were all amazing, friendly and welcoming with lots of local knowledge. The room was clean, comfortable and incredibly good value. The full Scottish breakfast was brilliant. I would highly recommend the Market Inn Hotel if you need a place to stay in Castle Douglas.

Brilliant surprise

My daughter had her graduation here, what a fabulous place, the food, service and staff were amazing, they go above and beyond to accommodate you. 
We visited Castle Douglas a few weeks prior, and had been to a local restaurant with family that had came up from Cornwall, after the meal we wanted to go for more drinks, we had children with us, the Market Inn Hotel was the only place that welcomed us all in, gave us a little lounge for us all to sit in, just lovely, well done and thankyou.

Graduation

We spent a two-night stay at this small Hotel which is near to the centre of Castle Douglas. Well situated for our visit to Threave Garden and Estate. Tastefully decorated public spaces. A small comfortable bedroom. The owners are in the process of updating some of the bathrooms, although ours was perfectly adequate. There was a lovely intimate feel to the bar and dining area. The staff were OUTSTANDING, warm and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was fabulous, nothing fancy but really tasty and generous in portion size at reasonable prices. We will have no hesitation in booking another stay here when back in the area.

Fabulous customer service and food

What a great place to start our holiday. Accommodation is lovely and the Food  has been excellent.  
The staff have been really pleasant and really efficient. They’ve gone out of their way telling us where to visit. 
A lovely little town as well . 
We had our dogs with us and they’ve been spoilt by the girls here. 
I would thoroughly recommend it if your in the area.

Start of our holiday

My daughter and I booked to stay for 2 nights in a twin room.  On arrival one of the beds was quite wobbly and squeaky and we were apprehensive about the noise turning over in the night.
We mentioned this to the lovely young member of staff when we went down for dinner and before we knew it we had the offer of moving into a double room together or keeping the twin room and one of us moving rooms  therefore occupying 2 rooms at no extra charge.
She was so apologetic about the issue and in my view went above any customer service you would receive in a much plusher hotel.
The following morning we were asked by another member of staff if the rooms were ok for us and again apologised for the inconvenience.
As for the food in the hotel, this was exactly the type of food that we enjoy so we were in our element and such a lot of choice. Breakfast choice was great in so much as you could have full breakfast, beans on toast, poached egg or just a breakfast roll which was a brilliant menu.
I really cannot praise the staff here enough and the customer service, food and closeness to amenities will ensure that we will definitely return.

Excellent customer relations

We visited here for pub grub after a day out and we were not disappointed. We had the haggis tower for starter then a burger each. The kids had lasagne. All very generous portions and served by lovely girls who were very friendly. We have wanted to eat at the Market Inn after we seen on Facebook during lockdown they were offering free meals to families who were struggling, genuinely such a nice thing to do. We will be back!
