Update on 1st review-I was contacted promptly with photos of how the mould in the bedroom was dealt with (See below). A voucher has been offered and accepted for another night's stay and meal. This has been amicably and swiftly reolved following my tripadviser posting on 17 December.

Update on 16.12.23 stay

We booked a very last minute break to the Peak District and have eaten in The Farmyard Inn before so decided to book a couple of rooms and a table for an evening meal, we booked a room for us and our elderly dog, plus other room for my elderly parents. I can honestly say the welcome we all received was the best we have ever had anywhere! On top of that our rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. Sammy and Joe could not do anymore to make their guests feel comfortable, on top of that we enjoyed a fantastic meal in the evening and a bottle of bubbles to help celebrate a birthday! We all enjoyed our food and our stay. Thanks guys keep doing what you’re doing as it works so well, we’d love to stay again when we’re back in Youlgreave.

Fabulous food and fabulous night away

Staying in Willow Cottage (almost) across the road and popped in for supper on Tuesday night. Pretty little traditional pub that looked all cosy from the outside with a log fire glowing through the windows. Greeted by a gorgeous young blonde girl (so sorry didn’t catch her name) who was rushed off her feet (she was incredible, doing absolutely everything but without any stress) - she  was so polite, so friendly, a credit to the pub. Had a lovely relaxing evening, good simple pub food and a throughly nice G&T. Really lovely (and on the doorstep) so much so we came back again Wednesday. Even busier! packed in fact…and a lovely lady (possibly the owner/manager?) went out of her way to find us a little table in an alcove where our dogs could tuck themselves away. A couple  we’d met the night before were dining again too… (which tells you a lot) super friendly pub, excellent staff and a hardworking chef! Thank you for being so hospitable and feeding us so well! Mum & I made sure we wrote a glowing review in the cottage guestbook too.

Cosy village pub,  comforting food, hard working staff

My family were staying in a cottage in Youlgreave and the intention was to try out all the pubs in Youlgreave. This didn't end up happening. We were made to feel so welcome the moment we stepped foot in the Farmyard that we returned the following two nights for food as well. By the end of our stay we felt like locals. 
The staff were always in hand to provide us with whatever we needed and there was a running joke about how I always picked the ale with a faulty pump!
The food was incredible. Hearty English grub with a posh twist. Over the three days we had had quite a lot of the menu between us and every meal was outstanding. Fully recommend the lamb. Children's menu was great also with enough options. 
Very dog friendly and they even provide complimentary dog treats. Our dog Rosie is very inexperienced in going into pubs but she had a wonderful time and was relaxed with the experience. 
We were told that The Farmyard is under new ownership, if this is the case then they have a wonderful pub and we fully intend on returning. I recommend.

Loved every second

Popped in a couple of times during our stay, friendly staff, food nice but very limited when we were there. We picked the hottest week to visit Youlgreave even though it was September and the lack of shade in the garden was a factor for us. I love sitting outside but in full sun was a problem at times. All in all another decent pub in Youlgreave.

Hot hot hot.

We stayed here for two nights on a walking holiday in the Peak District.  The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very clean and comfortable.    We didn't eat in the pub because it was closed those evenings due to staff shortages, but this information was on the website.

Lovely accomodation

I won’t demean this place as it may offer great food and beer, it was just a shame we didn’t stay to find out! After a bike ride on a hot day in a very hot week we decided to stop for lunch and a pint as they had an enticing beer garden with picnic sets and parasols, only to be told that food ( even sandwiches) is only served inside. If they’d given a reason, such as being a member of staff down or something, fair enough, or if it were sandwiches only outside, fair enough, or collect your own food, fair enough, but it was delivered as if it were a blanket rule. In a village with large campsites and lots of passing walkers and cyclists, in August and in a heatwave, it seems to be cutting off a lot of trade!!  I hope they survive…

Beer Garden but no food served in it!

We booked 3 of the 4 rooms at The Farmyard Inn, so we and our friends could explore Bakewell and the surrounding area for a long weekend .  Richard and his daughter Chloe were very welcoming and helpful with any questions we had.  The rooms have all been upgraded with very modern en-suites and lovely showers. There are tea and coffee making facilities and bottled water in the rooms. The breakfast was amazing.  You could pick from a fantastic full cooked to delicious eggs on toast. All the ingredients were good quality and we found we could mix and match what we wanted when pre-ordering the night before.   There were also cereals, yogurts and fresh fruit juices as well as tea and coffee. We had booked for dinner in the evening but due to a bereavement within the staff we had to eat at one of the other pubs, but that was really good too.  We did see the Sunday lunch being served the next day and they looked out of this world. This place is a little gem and amazing value for money. It is perfectly placed to explore the Peak District around Bakewell with some fantasic walking in and around Youlgrave too.  Strongly recommend this place a visit if in the area.

Fantastic value for money

After a two  hour drive we arrived at this place, having booked on booking.com as a pet friendly accommodation. On arrival we asked about check in and with a abrupt answer “ we aren’t a pet friendly hotel, haven’t been for months and months” are reply was it was advertised as one on booking.com. No sorry for the inconvenience or help to try and suggest in somewhere else ect! We only booked this 19 days ago……..
After speaking to booking.com the owner of this establishment changed there policy ten mins after are booking.. no one informed us …. Long drive home as everywhere was fully booked! Try and find somewhere else with a helpful and happier manner, can’t comment on food as we only managed one drink of larger and I can comment it wasn’t the best……

No Dogs Allowed

Ordered 2 steaks, 1 well done and 1 medium. 1 arrived quite well done and one arrived incinerated. Sent the incinerated one back because it was too tough to chew. Waiter/manager tried to pass it off as that’s what happens when you order well done. My sister continued to eat her “medium” steak whilst I waited for a replacement. Another meal was brought out to me and it was medium/rare at best. I was unable to eat it because it was too rare and sent It back again. My sister had finished her meal by the time the second replacement came out for me. Unfortunately it was over cooked and tough as old boots again. Called the waitress over and explained that it was still inedible despite being the third attempt. At this point I told them not to bother. The waiter/manager said well I won’t charge you then and brought over our bill. Almost £30 for one meal and 2 drinks. I then went to another pub in the village to eat by myself as my sister had already eaten. I would have at least have expected  the drinks to be discounted because of the fact that I actually had no evening meal at all that night. Terrible and would absolutely not recommend.
