Perfect stopover for East Midlands airport. (20 min drive)
Booked last minute and stopped at the National Memorial Arboretum before checking in. Had a lovely walk around here - well worth a visit on a dry day. £4 parking if you book in advance and then free entry.
Appleby Inn was just the job. Had evening meal which exceeded expectations. The restaurant was really busy considering it was mid week, but we didn’t need to wait for a table & food was served fairly quickly.
The room was large & airy. 
Breakfast lovely too.
Would definitely stay again for the airport. 👍

Perfect for airport stopover. Great food and really good value.

Had a good 3 day break here.  Great location.  Plenty of parking.  Breakfast was freshly cooked to order.  Plenty of staff who were all very pleasant and efficient.  Shout out to them all.  Ate there two of our evenings and food did not disappoint.  Good size portions. We knew it would be good due to the amount of people that were constantly coming and going all day and evening. Room was clean and fresh. Bed comfortable  albeit only a double. My criticisms about the room was it was directly opposite an outside entry door.  in the morning has everyone coming through to the breakfast dining area.  They showed no consideration that there was 3 rooms that had the possibility of guests were still sleeping! Outside is the extractor fan for the kitchen, thought initially this world be a problem but it wasn't for us, though other reviewers have commented regarding noise and smell. During the day the door is kept open till 23.00, the draft coming under the door was not pleasant.  Rolled up towel to stop the draft. The room was ground  floor, which we did request due to difficulties accessing stairs. Be warned though, the room above is very noisy.  I believe  it was housing elephants with boots on throughout our stay.  Finally, for some reason they have placed above the door A Fire Exit light, which has a constant brilliant green light. Which at night becomes Blackpool illuminations.  In all my days of travelling and hundreds of hotel rooms I have never had a Fire Exit lamb in and  above my room door!!! Unfortunately I did not mention this on our checkout to purely find out the reasoning for it. No we didn't complain, just accepted the issues and  am only pointing them out here to forewarn future guests of issues that they might not be so tolerant of.  In which case stay away from rooms 34, 35 (ours,) and 36.  Would definitely stay again, but not in these rooms and would suffer stairs for an upstairs one.

Good stay but some issues

Very good and comfortable stay with family.

Room very warm so had to open window - road outside very busy all night therefore not much sleep! Room basic but clean and adequate for our one night stay

Staff were friendly, food was brilliant- tasty with great portions both in the bar and for breakfast! Room was a good size, lots of parking and a lovely location. All just a little dated !

Exceptional value for money

Stop over when heading to France. Lovely quiet area and enjoyed the walk to nearby village and 2 inns. Good service at very reasonable price. Large breakfast selection. Food well prepared and staff all friendly and courteous.

Off motorway stopover

Excellent room at an excellent price, very friendly and accommodating staff and a lovely breakfast included

Everything was superb. Really enjoyed our and will stay again

Staff and service were excellent, food was lovely and lots of it too! Bit dated as a hotel but didnt spoil our stay at all.

Fab hotel for download not far food was excellent and the breakfast.Hotel slightly dated otherwise fab
