As Ellert the owner would describe his place. “We are in the sleeping business”. This guesthouse is quiet, colorful and beautiful. It’s great to unwind and get away from all the chaos. The decor is so intricate and was all built up by the owner over the years. I enjoy staying here and chatting to the owner so much whenever I get the chance. Thanks for always having me and running this place like a well oiled machine.

We spent 3 wonderful days at this paradise and enjoyed absolutely everything about it. Ellert, the owner is such a kind, considerate and helpful host. He and his wife, Margaret, took great care of us and went above and beyond. The design is very nice and unique, the bungalows are very comfortable, the pool is small but very inviting and perfect to relax. There is a delightful bar/common area to enjoy a drink.  The location is very good and central. Perfect for a walk across the Nile and close to the city center. We would definitely go back there and can recommend it to anybody that looks for making connections and listen to some interesting stories by Ellert.

My husband and I had been camping around Uganda  for several weeks and all I wanted was a beautiful, clean, lovely place to stay with a HOT SHOWER and clean, comfortable bed. I called The Source of The Smile one night after a cold shower at our OTHER RESORT,  and the receptionist said we could check in at anytime, that they would be there “waiting for us!”  When we arrived the next morning, the people at The Source of the Smile treated us like family. No really, they did. They gave us fresh homemade Hibiscus juice, a beautiful room and the best company.  That was important considering our timing.....

During our visit, we were dealing with travel delays and stresses as a result of the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic.  It was interesting to me how as stressful as this was for everyone, (and surely the resort as well) we were treated with such warmth, comfort and joy. We felt like we found a little beautiful sanctuary away from the rest of the craziness happening around the world.

From the customer service, the beautiful rooms, peaceful surroundings and great shower 🙌, this place has it all. I’m not one to post reviews but it would be such a disservice not to take advantage of this opportunity to show appreciation for such a great experience.

Coming from California, our party of 3 had an ideal stay here. Instantly we were greeted by the amazing staff. Source of the Smile has a serene and luscious landscape with immaculately clean rooms and bedding. The style is fresh and the lighting all around in the garden areas and rooms are perfect. The free breakfast comprises of fresh fruit, bread, eggs, vegetables (probably depends on the day) and homegrown coffee. Tea, filtered water and sometimes small snacks are readily available at all times. The bathrooms are super spacious with western commodities. The owners are a beautiful couple we happened to meet on our first night there. They are an inspiring fusion of the East and West and it shines through in their design and love for their business. Their attention to detail and welcoming nature is impressive. I highly recommend staying here. You won’t regret it.

We were 11 students from Norway staying at the source of the smile for the weekend. The facilities were 10/10, with a lovely pool and lounge area. The staff and owner were lovely and welcoming. The breakfast was also very good, loved the pancakes. We would definitely recommend staying here. 

I have stayed solo and with a large group as I was in the area for rafting and quad biking. Stayed in the poolside rooms both times and they are funky in the the best way. Staff are so friendly and professional, they were great support for the large group I organised and made it so painless for me. They are quick to recommend other places in the area, which is refreshing too. So cool to chill at the pool and the terraces are a great idea. Not even looking anywhere else when I am back in Jinja again.

We stayed 2 nights at this guesthouse in Jinja. It has a nice and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and the staff are friendly and very service oriented. Cool music and very nice designed furniture and decorations

We arrived late one hot October evening. After 10 hours on the road, the beautiful and relaxing garden at Source of the Smile was like a precious gift. The lanterns and the artistic chandeliers gave a cozy, mild light to the night. The smell of the trees and the flowers filled the air and enchanting music, at a perfect volume, played in the background.
The staff, every single one of them, were most welcoming, offered us drinks from the bar and menus from nearby restaurants to order in. Then they put the food on nice plates at the table with candlelights and good quality red wine. This perfect night was followed by many others, since I stayed for 4 weeks. I slept in three different rooms. The pool rooms are out of this world, decorated with glass in the walls and have superb showers. The other rooms are also very good but cheaper. They are all very clean. 
The breakfast at the Smile is simple but of great quality. The cheese and the brown  bread is yummy, the omelette as well. There is a good laundry service, coctails at the bar, sunchairs in the garden and a nice swimmingpool to cool down in. Jinja is surprisingly an interesting, historical city. I took long walks there and met many locals who were friendly and helpful. 
I was sad to leave The Smile but as I was walking from my room the last time the song "Perfect day" (by Lou Reed) was playing and I thought: I will be back to this perfect place. Thank you Margaret, Ellert, Olivia, David, Brenda, Teddy, Peterson, Michael and all the others. You made my life so much better. 

I went to Source as a 40th birthday getaway with my family and was greeted by owner Elliott with a large hug and a smile.  He was so warm and friendly and made my whole family feel comfortable and at home.  The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the wifi is fast.  My whole family enjoyed the breakfast and the availability of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and cookies throughout the day was a hit.  The pool was clean and the children had fun splashing around in it.

This was our first visit to Source but we will most definitely return.  Thank you Elliott for making us feel welcome and at home.

Arriving to The Source of the Smile late after a long day driving was like entering the garden of Eden for me. The beautiful garden was lit up with lanterns, the atmosphere so relaxing and the staff and owner, Ellert so welcoming and friendly. For me this place was the perfect place to relax. The design of the outdoor area is very unique and unbelievably charming. There are big, comfy chairs, a smell of lavender in the air and excellent music playing at the perfect volume level. The rooms are spacious and clean. Plenty of pillows and an enormous shower. Breakfast was very good including various fruits and freshly made juices. Source of the Smile is one of those places you start to miss before you leave. I will return, hopefully sooner rather than later. Thank you Ellert, Margret and all the wonderful staff of Smile for making me feel so welcome, relaxed and safe.
