The staff was very helpful and friendly. The beach is perfect. The hut itself a bit dark and shady. They serve fantastic coffee, unfortunately not so great food

very good authentic Thai food and of course European dishes, great coffee and fresh croissants, the Tom Yam Kung is rarely found in this quality ! first class, also the beef salad !   thank you Khun Jira, Fabian & Team

We had lunch and dinner here om several occasions. The food was good every time, and they also have really good coffee and even ice cream! It is located at Buffalo Bay and the view is amazing, especially at sunset.

Good food and they ice cream!

We stayed at Baan Klong Kleng in January 2020 and really enjoyed the tranquility of the little bay. Our bungalow was in the garden (there are not real beach bungalows lined up along the beach because of the tide) and we liked staying there. It was furnished nicely and was cleaned every day. As all windows had moskito nets we did not have one insect in the room, despite the fact that you are surrounded by trees and have an outdoor bathroom. There was a fan in the room. The reception area and restaurant were down by the beach. Food was offered throughout the day until 21.00 hrs and they also offered really good coffee. The food was freshly cooked and really good. We tried some of the other little neighbouring resorts for dinner but Klong Kleng seemed to be the best. The beach is nice but it has to be said that the tide affects the beach quite a bit. When it's high, there is only about 1,5 m of beach, when it's low there are 4 - 6 meters of beach, a lot of rocks become visable and you can walk for a very long time in the water before hitting deep water. But that's also very good for children. The only drawback was that I wasn't a bit fan of the sun chairs. There were about 8 sun chairs (to sit on) and sombrellas which could be used by the guests. You also had an array of garden chairs and tables below the restaurant. But it'd have been great to have some proper sun beds to actually lay down on. Just laying on the beach is of course possible. But there it got quite hot and putting a towel on the ground in the shade was not really possible. You'd needed to lay it right between the garden chairs which seemed a bit like laying yourself down in a restaurant. The sea itself is great, the beach is clean, there are no loud boats or other disturbances. Walking towards the "centre" of the island, where you find more restaurants and some sort of mini markets, it easily possible. But they also rent out bikes and motorbikes. The staff is really nice and we felt relaxed and welcome. They also arranged transport to the port and the ferry back to the mainland for us and connect you with snorkeling tour operator. We liked it there and will come back.

Great relaxing place for holiday.

I stayed here for 10 nights with my family (including kids aged 6, 5 and 1.5) and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. The place was beautiful and the service was excellent. Fabien, Kaeng and the rest of the staff were fantastic: friendly, accommodating and genuine. 

The bungalows we stayed in (#1 and #2) were freshly upgraded, clean, comfortable and (surprisingly as compared to the rest of the island) relatively bug-free (no ants or roaches!). I also liked how everything was "natural" (lots of wood, very little plastic and none of these concrete-box buildings). 

The food was delicious - loved the curries, the Burmese salad, and the genuinely French fresh-baked croissants and baguettes Fabien made every morning. There are also several eating options along the beach or a short scooter ride away for a change of  meal.

The beach is quiet and a bit more secluded. Amazing sunsets. The water was great for swimming too, shallow enough for little kids but still deep enough to get a good swim in. Not as wavy as Long Beach. 

Baan Klong is perhaps on the slightly more expensive/luxurious end for the island, compared to the number of basic and cheap backpackery places. But it is still very good value for what you get, considering the great service, amenities and quality. If you like 

One downside is the close proximity of the resort next door (particularly to bungalow #2), which occasionally was a bit noisy.

Phayam paradise

Our one week stay turned into three weeks because we couldn’t bare to leave so soon! We looked at a lot of places around the island and didn’t think we’d be getting our monies worth. The room is ample sized with a good bathroom that has nice decorative touches. There’s fans and mosquito net in the room and the deck has a lovely patio set. We can tell they put thought into creating this space. The best part is the kitchen! Best Masaman I’ve had on the island. The owner takes care of all her guests and makes sure that everyone is happy by visiting your table after every meal to ask you how your food was. She’s also really great at booking day trips, ferry rides, and classes for you. She just wants to make sure you are taken care of and for us she felt like our Aunty. We’re happy we stayed and felt so welcomed. And a huge PLUS, the beach is a little more secluded than anywhere else, very beautiful!

What a gem!

We met the lady owner who ordered in fish etc on our behalf for the following day and specially cooked our evening meals. This was like having a one:one chef. The food was excellent. Latita looked after us, booked ferries, sorted transport so a great lady. We were not staying there this time, but I took a look at the accommodation and will undoubtedly be staying when I return in April 2018.

Best Thai food

I wrote a long review of the place a year ago when we first visited. Baan Klong Kleng used to be the place for us in Thailand. Not because of fancy rooms, infinity pools or fancy room service meals - there were none of that - but because of wonderful chill atmosphere, friendly service and superb food.

Unfortunately the French guy Fabien who was managing the place has left. With him left also the kitchen staff, the atmosphere and the brilliant food. The current management and staff does allright, but it's just that the place used to be the crown of the island before and now there's not much to differentiate it from the other places. It's still a beautiful place, but it's no longer impeccably clean. The food is good, but you can find better on the same beach.

Also, it's a bit expensive for what you get. Don't take the seafront bungalows, they're noisy and outdated. Normal rooms a bit in the back are better. We also had plenty of cockroaches in our seafront bungalow (number 2).

All in all, it doesn't offer the great value it did before even if it is not bad. I'd recommend staying at the new rooms in Saithong Bungalows instead (just 2 resorts "left" on the same beach), they also have great food there.

It used to be perfect

Just loved this place a couple of years ago because it had probably the best Thai food I've ever tasted to date. Sadly it seems that the owners have let the wind out of its sails. 

Still a nice place to chill but really that amazing food it was so famous for just isn't what it used to be. 

Used to be outstanding 

Was here for 2 weeks in a row back in 2015. It was such a long trip from Bangkok to get here but it was totally worth it. The location is one step away from the secluded beach. I had a long jogging in the afternoon. Very peaceful place to be at. There is also a restaurant down the stairs. Various delicious foods with affordable prices. Come here soon again.
