Mini Voyage Hostel Hualian

Mini Voyage Hostel is located a mere 5 minute walk from the Hualien Train Station and Bus Station. If you happen to be coming into Hualien from either of those places, and consequently departing from either of those places, then choose Mini Voyage and save time on a lengthy and inconvenient journey to your accommodation. As with all places I went to in Taiwan, the staff was incredibly welcoming and kind. I was upgraded to a Triple Room which was much appreciated. The size is great, the bathroom is surprisingly spacious and lets in a lot of light. A great bonus: this hostel does offer a washer and dryer too. It costs 50$ NTD per cycle. The dryer isn't the best, so they recommend giving it two cycles so keep in mind it may take a couple hours or more to complete your laundry. I was on the 2nd floor, and there is a bit of a humid smell. You can see they're trying to fight it with dehumidifiers in the hallways, but for some reason the scent remains. They allow you to leave your luggage with them after check-out in case you have time to kill before your departure. This was very practical for me as check-out was at 11am, but my train wasn't until 6pm. I was able to spend the day exploring and come pick-up my luggage right before leaving. In Hualien, if you're close to the Train Station you're unfortunately far from downtown. So this is important to keep in mind. I personally valued being closer to my entry and exit point, but you may prefer being closer to the attractions in the center of the city which is totally fair. It was approximately a 25 minute walk to the Dongdamen Market, for example.
