Hotel Restaurant La Poste

This accommodation is in the centre of St Cergue which is a lovely, quiet little town. We chose it as a base for a two night stay whilst we explored Geneva. It was about 30 mins drive from Geneva, but the roads were excellent and the countryside was so beautiful that the drive was a pleasure. No one was on site when we arrived but details about our room had been left for us inside the entrance. Our room was up a fairly steep staircase on the first floor and was large and very bright and airy with large shuttered windows. Facilities were good including free wi-fi, tea/coffee making facilities and a TV that picked up several UK channels. Rooms on the front could experience traffic noise during commuting times, especially from motor cycles but not so much that we wouldn’t stay there again. There are a couple of parking places behind the hotel but there is a large free public car park opposite that seemed very safe that we used the first night. We enjoyed a good, fresh continental breakfast (fresh juice/tea and coffee/bread/cold meat/cheese/fruit) in the adjoining restaurant (Restaurant de la Poste) and the waitress was able to give us good, helpful advice about where best to park in Geneva (we had identified a park and ride facility some way away, but she advised us to the try the underground parking at the Gare de Cornavin (Place Cornavin) so we did, which proved to be ideally located for the shops and lake-side activities. The Restaurant de la Poste was closed on our first night so we had a very good meal in one of the local restaurants. It was open on the second night and we both had a lovely salmon pasta dish. The meals weren’t cheap, but Switzerland is expensive and the exchange rates didn’t do us any favours. I’ve just asked my husband if he’d stay there again. His response – ‘At the drop of a hat!’.
