I stayed for 3 nites, but checked out early. The room doesn't really live up to the reviews. It's perfectly fine, but not amazing. I booked via Booking.com but manager contacted me direct and got me to cancel booking and rebook direct. I had room 203 booked, but of course when I arrived, that room wasn't available so got shown a room way up on third floor.  The luvly (female) receptionist insisted on showing me a room on 1st floor, so ended up taking that. Room was functional, fan, AC, net, hot water. Outside Area. Bathroom didn't feel super clean. Downstairs bar was ok, although completely dead when I came back at 10pm one nite.  Breakfast was not that great, not even any real milk. Staff super luvly and helpful.  Location a little walk from main surf area, felt a little out of the action, but not far to walk.

Nice people, good rooms, perfect location, beautifull view, great ambience and nice food. Our stay in The Happy Bay was everything we wanted/needed and more. After three days it felt a bit like leaving your own house.

Relaxed and succesfull stay at happy bay

First thing you have to mention is the lovely and super helpful staff, every question you might have they can answer, good location close to Welligama beach, the dorms are neat and organized, a lot of places with beanbags and some big balconies to relax 

A great gust house along the road

Very clean, serviceable hostel with private and dorm rooms with AC ! Not only that, you are made to feel at home with family and friends who run the place. Felt more than looked after and information readily available and even volunteers who will take you surfing or to see the sights ! Food is also spot on. 

All in all fantastic value for money and money can’t always buy you the care attention the team puts into looking after their guests !

Happy days at happy bay ! 

Hi 
I am on a two week holiday and needed a complete rest from work. I am definitely over the moon here in Happy Bay, I am not doing all the tourist things this week just resting up and the rooms are great for that 
1. Great showers 
2. A/C
3 WIFI.
4. Fine bed (very comfortable)
There is plenty of space to relax from beanbags and chairs and tables or a sit at the counter for coffee and a chat with the very nice staff. 

Next week for me will be more on the go I am off to the tea plantation (a must do ) not to far by the hand picked tuk tuk drivers by the hotel management to ensure a professional service for their clients.

Long overdue holiday 

Hands down the best guesthouse in weligama and maybe the world! came for two days current status is one month and counting! reasonable prices, clean rooms and the irish owners couldn’t do more to make you stay more enjoyable, highly recommended. 

Home away from home!

Absolute nicest humans running the place, spacious large rooms, dining downstairs was delicious, not a bad thing to say about anything. The vegetarian burger has to be the best I’ve had ever had, smoothie bowl is a must as well. Everything is homemade and fresh. Atmosphere is very welcoming and with the beach directly opposite it has great views. A must place for stay or eat in Weligama.

VEGGIE BURGER IS AMAZING

This was the first restaurant I dropped into, as I seen a big screen with the Ireland rugby on, so I thought I'd call in. Met the owners and they were very welcoming and had a great mullet fish and chips there with a nice side salad. The place has an authentic feel and it's right beside the beach so a great view. They also have an Italian coffee machine and the coffee is first class, and you get a bigger cup than most in the area. Pat and the crew are genuine nice welcoming people and have lots of contacts in area and will help you to book taxi's or give you info on the surf school. It's a great central place to organise your travel and holiday. They employ a mixture of Sri Lankan and english speaking staff which I think makes for a good genuine welcoming vibe. There was a good mix of nationalities there too, and it was good conversation.

Great Hospitality

Absolutely thrilled to stumble across a little piece of Ireland in Weligama. From Quotes by Yeats to a Irish Signs, this really is the essence of Ireland, Hats of to Tom, Bernie & Pat, for exporting Ireland and making it so real. Top class food and a welcome to die for, I will certainly be marking this as a stand-out destination in Southern Sri Lanka well worth many a vist.

Amazing Experience -

My girlfriend and I had lunch at Happy Bay Weligama and it was great. We had a chickenburger and a veggieburger, both fabulous! Also breakfast and dinner options! The place looks spotless and has a good vibe. We will be back, thanks a lot!
