disgraceful and disgusting staff, hostile and aggressive. when you express this, not only do the perpetrators not apologise but they gaslight and attack you. just check every other negative review. they say the same. 

poor customer service really does destroy the whole energy of the trip. our stay in yala has been a massive lowlight due to this disgusting behaviour. can’t believe we had to pay to experience that. nightmare.

unprofessional staff, rude, felt unsafe as a woman.

Without a doubt the absolute best stay we have had in Sri Lanka. Hot water, silent AC, beautiful location, incredibly kind staff and top-notch service really does set this place apart. Everything was clean, thoughtfully designed and the breakfast was also incredible. Don't hesitate, book this when you are in Tissa. The only thing we did wrong was not booking more nights.

Best stay in Sri Lanka!

Staying at Richard’s cabanas was a highlight for our trip. A warm welcome , clear instructions about services and tours and a lovely cozy room with hot water and quiet a/c 
The recommendations for guides to Yalla NP were fantastic with a bird focus as requested and wonderful sightings of leopards and elephants. 
The breakfast was great - love the bread and Sri Lankan honey.

The best 2 days 

We really enjoyed our stay at Richard’s Cabanas! We were there for two nights and it was too short. The cabana was very well designed, spacious and everything is provided for. After a long day in Yala national park we enjoyed the comfortabel lounge chairs. The swimming pool is stunning and the staff is very helpfull. The food is excellent and freshly made. The owners are a lovely family who will go out of their way to make you feel at home.

Perfect place to stay and enjoy Sri Lankan hospitality 😎

We really enjoyed eating here. We've had chicken kottu four times in Sri Lanka, and this one was the best. We also had some fried rice and chicken curry, which were excellent! The service staff were superb friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Delicious food

We had a wonderful stay in the very comfortable birdwatching view cabana, watching kingfishers and other birds from our terrace! The air con worked well, bed was comfortable and the bathroom was huge! This place was a little slice of paradise, beautiful gardens, amazing food and the family are so helpful, thoughtful and accommodating. They arranged taxis, safaris to Yala and Bundala with yummy takeaway breakfasts and lunch! The safari trips really were unforgettable, we did 2 boat trips out on Tissa Lake to watch the amazing birds and bats and stunning scenery! I would 100% recommend staying here, you will not be disappointed!

Slice of paradise!

A haven! We loved our time here, it's a lush paradise of plants and trees with birds and wildlife on your doorstep. 
The food was scrummy and beautifully presented and there is obvious pride from the family, evident in how clean and well maintained the property and gardens are.

We were only sorry we didn't stay for longer!

A peaceful haven

Stayed here in December for 2 nights as a base to do a safari in Yala. The rooms are clean and have good a/c and a fan, the bed is large and comfortable. The pool and restaurant area are in a beautiful setting in a garden jungle! The owners organised our safari and accommodated any needs such as vegetarian meals for breakfast and lunch to take on the safari. The accommodation is ran by a really nice couple, we ate both nights in their restaurant and the food was great home cooked Sri Lankan meals. I would Definitely return and thought the food and accommodation was excellent value for money. 

Great stay 

The two rooms at the pool are so beautiful. The pool is the most beautiful of our trip. Lovely family running this place. Organizing safaris, you get a tasty breakfast and Amila and his wife are cooking delicious, kids also really enjoyed the food

Best place to stay for safari

This resort is INSANE! One not to be missed that’s for sure. From the moment we stepped into the gate we felt like we were in paradise. The vibrant trees, the noise of the lake flowing and the birds, it was beautiful. We were greeted by a lovely man who is the owner who could not be kinder or more helpful. He showed us up to the pool area where we were treated to a fresh juice and dinner was booked in. We stayed in the room for bird watching- WOW is all I can say. The rooms were so luxurious and clean, with a complimentary plate of delicious biscuits. We spent some time in the pool area and headed out on our safari, on return our food was ready and we sat chatting to Richard, he was ever so interesting and so keen to get to know us, which we loved. He was also very good at his knowledge if different birds which my husband LOVED. Dinner was amazing, you must try the samosas- best ones ever. We walked into the town which took no longer than 5 minutes by walking and on return went back to a lovely cool room. He had thought of everything. AC/fan/mini fridge/mosquito net/hammock! Best nights sleep we had and then up early bird watching from our terrace. BREAKFAST WAS AMAZING, we had hoppers, fresh fruit, dahl, coconut pancakes, eggs… and everything was wonderful. Please make sure you book a stay here- you will not be disappointed!! Thank you to you and your amazing family, we will return!
