The rooms were very spacious and clean, the bathrooms enormous. You can easily stay three people in one room. The garden had peacocks  and lots of other birds. 
The staff really made our stay. They really seemed to care and were very helpful. 
We enjoyed sitting outside in the evenings and just listening to all the animal sounds.  Great value for the money!

Amazing place! Great value for the money!

This was by far the best value for money hotel we stayed at during our three week tour of Sri Lanka. The water was hot (a rare thing for a hotel in this area), the room was large, breakfast was delicious and the bed really comfortable. Exactly what his needed after a long day trekking.

Best value for money in Sri Lanka

I must say Our trip to Sigiriya wouldn't be this much exciting and complete without Castle Rock which holds a very special place in our trip to Sigiriya.  They always try to serve the guests the best way they can.  My wife and I simply loved their delicious Sri Lankan foods and the service is extra ordinary which exceeded our expectations. 

I made a special request during the booking since it was our 3rd Year wedding anniversary celebration trip. They surprised us by decorating the room with beautiful fresh flowers and offered us a cute icing cake which is simply amazing. Not only that they had arranged a beautiful fresh fruit basket filled with banana, guava, watermelon, Apples and oranges. That made us feel really happy and special.

We fell a sleep on the first day night after a busy day and woke up at around 10.30PM and went out for dinner. but, we didn't know that the restaurants in Kimbissa area in Sigiriya normally close after 10.00PM. We came back in hunger and i must say its highly appreciated that the Owner of the hotel managed to provide us dinner by waking up the staffs even though we didn't inform them in advance. That's the reason why i stated "exceeded the expectation" We finally ended up staying 2 nights though we initially booked for 1 night. 

Last by not least Castle Rock Sigiriya is a value for money Hotel with 5 Star class Service.

Exceeded the Expectation

Lovely accommodation with charming host who went out of his way to make sure we did everything we had on our list whilst here.  Even picked us up from airport & took us on to our next destination.  We had decided against a dedicated driver for our tour of Sri Lanka & Nilanthe was happy to provide these services locally.  Excellent sarfari with him in his own vehicle, which was very comfortable.  The breakfast is very good & far more than we could eat , hot water for shower & good air con & very comfortable bed with great mosquito net.  We highly recommend this guest house & the lovely family who run it,

Perfect stay

We decided to skip the organised tour around Sri Lanka and go independent. Glad we did as highlighted by our visit to the rock.  It is a great climb that is rewarded by stunning views. Get there around 7.00 am, as not only are you shaded as you climb the 1270 steps, the crowd is much better which allows you stop every now and then without feeling pressured. I am 61, play golf and made up no problem, but very glad to get to the top and rest. 

As we were leaving the busses arrived on nasse. My wife and I started to guess who would make and who wouldn’t. Sounds mean but it was more to do with what woul you do if following them. In short, go early but you must do it. 

If you do this early you have plenty of time for other things. We did Dambulla caves afterwards, with another three hundred steps from the ticket office. 

Yuk yuk took us to both places. This was also part of the great experience of the day. 23 km in a Tuk yuk was great fun.

Must do when in Sri Lanka

We had the chance to have Mana for 3 days as driver. In addition, to be a very safe driver, he gave us the chance to discover Sigiriya and its surroundings on a very pleasant way.
Don’t hesitate to rely on him and for fun call him Mister Pouet Pouet... he will appreciate.

Safety and pleasant driver

We stayed hère during 3 days to begin our 2 weeks trip in Sri Lanka. It was à perfect start.
Very small hotel with only 4 rooms. Very big room and a very big terrace. And a nice view över the wild nature. The sing of the peakcock every morning.
The room was nicely furnished and the air condition worked well. And the shower was hot.
The personnel is very kind and Friendly. The best breakfast in Sri Lanka. And the dinners were delicious.
We recommend this place.

Just perfect !

We hired Mana for transportation. He is a very good, calm driver and has a modern car with all the amenities. He is very nice and also very knowledgeable about the particulars of the area and local wildlife.

Transport

We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay at Neelanta's place. He was incredibly friendly and kind. From taking us on day trips to Lion Rock and Polonnaruwa, always looking after us and even picking us up late at night from the centre of Sigiriya. I would definitely recommend it here! Thank you.

Amazing place, lovely host and great food!

If visiting central Sri Lanka this place is a must see. It’s a beehive for tourists so get there earlier before the main crowds and the heat of the day. There are 1200 steps and it is a bit of a climb but as it’s like a procession in places it gives you time to stop as well as many places to sit down if you need to. I saw several very old people taking their time and many people in their 60’s. A bottle of water is essential. 
I’m a relatively fit 51 and it took us just over two hours to go up and down. 
It’s worth noting that at a couple of stages going up a metallic spiral staircase and another normal staircase are on the side of the rock so if you suffer from vertigo think twice. 
It’s such an impressive palace fortress with remains of the palace and pools at the top. The views from the top are lovely especially looking back down to the palace gardens that you walk through.
We had a guide for $20, it was well worth it as we would have missed most of the interesting bits. All that said it is relatively expensive to get in $30 or equivalent in rupiahs but you have to do it.
