I was this property with my friend (07/08.03.19 ) 2 nights we booked single by mistake but in the booking system single or dabble price is same but when we checked in to the hotel the guy in reception ( Manager in the restaurant ) $ 60 extra from us telling babble have to pay $30 extra per day. No invoice 
Otherwise location & Hotel are nice to stay but careful about payment  


Regarding Payment

Location of this hotel is amazing.it is bang opposite the lake.the hotel runs parellel to the walking track of the famous botonical garden of nuwara eliya.
the rooms are with wooden flooring so it makes a dirty sound which might irritate you !

Calamander is SO not recommendable!! The location is wonderful, but that's about it! 
Service is non-existent, had to ask for amenities (several times) suitable for our number of people; were accused of theft; realised that the info about various activities was more or less non-existing; staff at the reception was rude! And I could go on!
The so-called fusion cuisine restaurant is a freezing cold reception area/cafe that does not serve many of the dishes/beverages on the menu card. The food is not bad; it's ok, but very far from what is promised and SO overpriced that it's a joke.
The chalets LOOK nice from the outside and in the pictures, but as soon as you enter, you'll find them freezing cold (even with the heater on for the whole night), run down, dirty (fridge was disgusting, towels were dirty, window screens, lamps, shower etc. All dirty! We left before time and found a nice hotel in town - great service! Visited app. 10 hotels during 4 weeks in SL, and this was the only bad experience!

Warning! Do not go!!

As it was lunch time we visited the Calamander restaurant in Nuwaraeliya. Calamander restaurant was a nice place for lunch. We enjoyed every bit of the scenery. It is adjoining lake Gregory. They have a wide variety of food. But it is a busy place during the season and long weekends. You need to order your food early to the table as it takes quite a while to prepare during the season etc. Chalets were visible next to the restaurant.

Nice restaurant

We stayed here one night and the grounds and location were amazing. Now the rooms I would call very rustic and a little worn. There is some need for renovation and if they ever do this, I would say this place would be a real treat. The breakfast was not bad. Something to consider if you like the rustic feel.

Vacation 

We were here for a lunch meal. Recommended by our tour agent for some local cuisine, we were totally sold off by the most beautiful location this place has to offer. 
The floor manager, who was also in chef’s clothes, was the most unprofessional hospitality guy I am yet to witness. He misguided us in understanding the portions and composition of Rice and Curry meal. When we wished to understand the pricing quoted on the bill (this dish isn’t even mentioned on their restaurant menu), he behaved in the most unprofessional way, pointing fingers while talking, rude behavior and not hospitable at all. We felt cheated. 

The food, not authentic as well. They used a continental fried fish finger preparation simply dunked into a local curry. A waste of time and money. And the staff is a total downer. 

Racist, unprofessional staff

Called in here for lunch on our recent tour of Sri Lanka and what a location right on Lake Gregory, service top class and we had Italian for lunch, pizza and Carbonara, pot of tea and soft drinks, no alcohol served here. Reasonable prices. Worth the visit if in this area for the position.
