Overall we had a really great time at Surf & Turf! 
We were there on low season and therefore didn’t really know what to expect at first but it turned out to be the best decision ever. The room was beautiful and clean, with a nice terrace. From the first day on, Rasool the manager of the hotel gave us good advice on what to do, cleaned up the beach bar for us (even though it was closed we could still go there) and we spent some really nice time with him and his friends. 
Arugam bay itself was quite empty due to low season, of course many restaurants and shops were closed but we actually had a really great time and were happy to avoid big crowds and still found enough open places and things to do. 
We had the possibility to do several activities organized by Rasool at a very reasonable price: tuktuk safari, surfing with Kutty (the great surf instructor of Surf & Turf, we loved his surf courses), etc. 
Regarding surfing, we weren’t sure if it would be possible to go surf at first since we travelled there during low season, but for us as beginners it actually worked very well as there were several days with good smaller waves which allowed us to learn the basics. 
Everyone at Surf & Turf was always really nice to us and we really enjoyed spending time with all of them - in fact we would have liked to stay longer and we already miss everyone!  
If you want to spend a few days in a really nice and relaxing environment, with really cool people and lots of nature to discover, go to Arugam bay.

Beautiful place, amazing people, little paradise on earth :)

Surf & Turf is a fun place to stay while in Aragum Bay. The hut's are basic but nice. The host David is very helpfull and you can organize surflessons trough the place. We especially loved the surflessons because the teachers were really good and fun and gave useful tips!! 
Overall a very nice place to stay.

Fun place

The surf and turf 2 is very basic, pay extra and get the air conditioned bungalows, although they are very basic at least the have air conditioning, they offer a bed and a small desk and a vey average bathroom with cold water only. They advertise toiletries supplied but they don’t supply them. The best part is the front porch which is set in a nice small garden. The beachfront bar and restaurant is very old and worn, it was not that clean. The owner is very friend but it is very overpriced for what was on offer. I would not recommend to stay here, can get much better accommodation for cheaper rate.

very chilled and safe space. fish curry recommended. lovely staff and a very wellcoming host did their best to make me feel comfortable. reasonable prices compared to other places in arugam bay. and beautiful view and style! it’s one of the rare places with soul in off season.

Full powa

In our 10 days we stayed in Arugam bay we spend most of our time in surf n turf rather than staying in our own hotel. Alf is the best! During the day it’s a very comfortable and chill place to stay with hammocks and chill beds and good music. In the evening it’s a good place to get together and play a round of cards. We will come back for sure!

Best place in Arugam Bay

David runs a very chill little place with 5 rooms. He was so easy going about the configurations of how many people went where-giving us extra mattress when we needed them. He worked with us when we kept changing our leaving day-as you will probably do when in arugam bay! 
The rooms were very basic, the shower only had cold water but this is normal in A Bay-and it was so hot, it was a relief to have a cool down.

We weren’t that keen on the guy who worked at the beach part of Surf and Turf. We think he’s David’s partner. I wouldn’t recommend you hire his surf boards, as they were missing fins. We thought it was just the way they were but he made us pay to replace them even though we didn’t break them. He was a bit of a scammer and it put a bad taste in our mouths. We left the next day to find other accommodation...

A surprisingly peaceful nook...

We had some very relaxing hours at the surf&turf. The owner mido is a great character. Also his employees are very kind. 
The setup at this place is perfect for lazy afternoons and romantic evenings. Good music. Small but delicious kitchen.
