Everything about this apartment was excellent.  I have stayed in many good apartments in Spain, but this one was EXCEPTIONAL value for money.
1.The accommodation was very easy to book.  The apartments are associated with a hostal so this means you have 24 hour access when you arrive, not having to worry about meeting someone at an appointed time.  The people on reception were extremely helpful prior to arriving and throughout our stay. (in particular Artur and Vivian)
2.The location was unbeatable.  It is on a pretty street - Calle Esparteros  and it is literally only a minute from Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor.  We could walk every where to the major sites and it was a lovely vicinity for exploring.
3. The apartment is  elegant and charming in a very simple unpretentious manner.  We were in Superior Apartment 55.  There were four of us.  The apartment is extremely roomy with two large terraces looking out across views of terracotta roofs and a wide expanse of sky.  The apartment  has retained its beautiful parquet floors.  The kitchen was sizeable too.  We cooked here every night and did find the equipment in the kitchen a little too basic (we went out and bought a set of cheap plastic bowls that helped!)  One person had mobility issues so we loved the ease of having a lift that always worked.

Overall we loved this apartment and it epitomised the charm of Madrid.  Thank you.

wonderful value and excellent location

We really enjoy the time we spent in this place, the apartments are located in the heart of Madrid just a few steps from the subway, Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, the building is ok, apartments are clean and equipped with everything, the elevator take you to and old movie and the filling is really funny.. the wifi is free and ok for the necessary, i could come back in my next visit to the lovely Madrid!

Amazing location!

You are renting this for the location. It couldn't be more in the heart of the city. I loved the location.

However living there for a while is not realistic. I live there for 4 months while studying abroad in Madrid. The wifi is terrible. Since I needed the wifi for my studies I complained multiple times about the wifi. They never upgraded it or added more routers while I was there. There is one router for each floor so many people are all on the same network and the range is poor. 

Also my kitchen was extremely small which made it hard to cook.

We were travelling as a family and wanted something in the heart of Madrid. These apartments are it. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. They have everything needed. Kitchen, washing machine, stove, fridge,etc. We picked up some breakfast things and ate before we left for the day. 
The building is about 50M from the Sol metro station. From there you can get anywhere. 
There are several restaurants, bars and attractions within walking distance. 
The only thing to complain about is that the person I was in contact with was not very clear about where to pick up the key. There is an office in the building.

Great Value for Money

Ok, lets be honest, these apartments are basic (they are associated with Hostal Madrid, which is almost next door).  But for the money, you would be hard pressed to find a better value way to stay as a family in Madrid.

When you stay here, you are right near Puerta del Sol - pretty much in the heart of everywhere you would want to go in central Madrid.  Many things are in easy walking distance, including the Palace in one direction, the Prado in the other.  There are plenty of supermarkets in short walking distance, as well as the awesome food hall of El Corte Ingles.  

We stayed in apartment 55.  This had two bedrooms, a huge terrace, and very large living / dining area.  There was plenty of space, and had washing machine as well as small functional kitchen and bathroom.  It was on level 5 but there was a lift to get you up and down - rather than having to take the stairs!  It was also extremely quiet - very little street noise, and little could be heard from the other apartments.  It was a great place for a very good night's sleep.

Finally, the apartment is next to the hostel, which helps on check-in and check-out as they are happy (for a fee per bag) to store luggage.
