A clean but tired hotel in dire need of renovation. The room was basic and old fashioned, but the bed was big and. Comfortable. The air conditioning in our room had to be repaired while we were there, but never really worked properly and the water evacuation from the sink was medely a slow trickle. Work needs to be done to bring the rooms up to a standard that one would expect for the price they charge. The room by the lift as it is very noisy, but thankfully we were moved on request. The breakfast was reasonable and the hotel is in a convenient location, (although the view is not pretty!), The off-site parking arrangements are rather bizzare and complicated.  Hotel Vila Tosa does not merit being classed as a 4* hotel. 

Disappointing and shabby

We just came back from a week in Tossa De Mar the last week in October. This hotel was a place we were rebooked into when our original booking had closed for the season. 

I was completely impressed and actually grateful for the change. The hotel is across the street from a supermarket, and next to a small drug store. Close to on street parking which was plentiful at this late time. 

A cute town, there were still plenty of places open and places to eat. We had the breakfast buffet that was limited, but cheap and quick. 

This hotel was close enough to walk to everything including up the lighthouse. The most incredible views and a nice (if expensive) cafe at the top where we had Cava Sangria. 

The room was nice, with a nice balcony overlooking the street. The bathroom had a weird configuration that required you to climb over the toilet and bidet to get to the tub. That was not terribly good for my older parents. Fine if awkward for us. 

Finally the hotel desk staff was really nice. We had drinks on our balcony and they filled a bucket of ice for us every night, every day they helped us pull out the wheelchair, and at the end they helped us print out our boarding passes. They were really very nice and we appreciated their help. 

Yes there are closer hotels to the beach. Yes, I’m sure during the height of the season it’s packed. However this hotel is a great option for convenience and a jumping off point for other road trips to other towns. 



Off Season review

We stayed here for 7 nights at the end of October. It was very disappointing, certainly no where near a 4 star rating, closer to a 3 star. The hotel is quite basic, the staff were not welcoming or very helpful, often not even looking up or acknowledging us when we walked through the lobby. 
The ac in the room was very inefficient so it was uncomfortably warm in the room. Our room was basic and very dated in decor. The bathroom needed modernising as there was mould around the bath and shower area, rust on the faucets and the ceiling paint was all bubbled and peeling off from excessive moisture. The bed was comfortable and the sheets clean. The room was very noisy as it was right next to the maids service room, so we heard buckets and mops being rinsed our along with the service trolley crashing and bumping from an early hour all morning.
 We were also concerned to see that all of the fire door exits in the building were constantly wedged open 24/7 which is not safe had there been a fire. On our first evening the power in the lift went when we were inside it. There was no emergency power override or telephone system. The alarm on the control panel didn’t work as it was linked to the main power! It was pitch black, very hot and we were stuck for approximately 10 minutes. Thankfully another guest heard us banging on the lift door and alerted the front desk. They were very unapologetic and did nothing to make us feel reassured that it wouldn’t happen again.
We had breakfast 3 times which was very basic and the same each day, no variation on the menu. There was a bar, but it was no manned and very unwelcoming along with being unatmospheric.
There was a lovely roof terrace however no cushions or towel facility were provided.
All in all, I really would not recommend this hotel to anyone, a VERY disappointed guest.

So dissapointing

The hotel is well located and the rooms are clean but basic. The menu is ok for the price. However the reception staff is rude and unhelpful. They offer a cap park nearby but they don’t explain how it works and it turns up that is more expensive than buying the ticket directly. We asked for a refund and they refused. 

Just ok

What we liked: located in the middle of town, the Vila de Tossa is basic but clean; the room had a wine cooler which was good for cooling our water.
What we didn't like: parking is a real pain; we didn't have any problems with crime, but heard stories of problems with pick pockets; be careful and keep you valuables some place safe.

Clean Hotel, Good Location

The hotel was in a great location only about 10 mins away from the beach and about 6 mins from the shopping streets. Didn’t have a pool but they sent me to the their sister hotels pool which is horrendous. A tiny square surrounded by high rise hotel rooms jammed packed with people. I couldn’t even get in the pool it was so packed. So urh okay although one receptionist was a bit lame helping me sort out my airport travel. She sent me to the bus station to find out myself, had no idea of any transfer companies and then when asked about booking me a taxi said I should go to the taxi rank down the road myself and find out. Anyway after pointing out it was her job to provide information on airport travel options and booking she finally helped me. I wouldn’t say this is a 4 star for various reasons but the quality of the rooms help and would make it a decent 3 star 

Good location and okay

We stayed only one night but we were very warm welcomed by a lady receptionist Andrea from Hungary. She helped us a lot with all the questions we had offering us a great customer service.She is very respectful and polite. Thank you Andrea!

Great stay and especially the staff

Situated on one of the main streets in Tossa, this hotel is a short walk from the bus station (half hour from Lloret and one hour from Blanes). We had a front facing room with a small balcony, which wasn't too noisy. Very good buffet breakfast and there is also a good supermarket opposite and a couple of very good panaderias along the street too. Tossa is a lovely small tourist location, with lots of restaurants and cafes. The historic castle, which dominates the small bay makes this resort stand out. Good walking trails also possible from this popular beach resort.

Relaxing stay

If you Search for a good place to visit Tossa this is a good choice. Good breakfast reasonable priced and friendly staff, all you need for a good time. 
It has a nice hot tub and good sized rooms with very friendly staff and clean room. The bed was very comfortable to sleep and we had a nice terrace too. 

Good hotel for a short visit to Tossa

The Hotel staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and towels and bed made daily. The only thing to complain about was breakfast choices their was not enough fruit and very basic however we did notice at the weekend it did improve slightly. It was quite noisy but nothing compared to some places we have stayed...it was in a great location five minutes to the beach and main area for restaurants and bars.
