Maria & Roman are delightful, & VERY helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Breakfasts fantastic, home made & something different every morning.
The village is small & peaceful with only one bar. Once again mostly home made food & nothing was too much trouble for the owners.
We would return like a shot if we wanted to visit the same area.

Maria and her husband were the best hosts we have ever met; so welcoming and helpful.

Rooms and communal areas were spotless, and the breakfasts were incredible - home cooked pastries and muffins which were fresh and different each day. And our dietary requirements were no problem (veggie with nut allergy). 

Enjoyed a fantastic gorge hike in the Picos as well as a bit of Via Ferrata. Plenty of choice to eat out at night; we visited the local bar one night and were fed very well! Another evening we ate at a small tapas bar in Covadonga,recommeded by Maria.

Amazing food, hosts and location

The pension is located at the entry of the small village of Sames.
The room we had (number 5) was big, nicely decorated and correctly isolated from the others in term if noise. The enclosed bathroom was also nice, clean and almost like new. We had a nice view on the surrounding mountains and the environment was very calm and quiet.
The breakfast was awesome, really. Each morning, Maria (the host), was cooking different pastries, sweet and stalted, that were delicious.
Maria, was also so nice and helpful all along our stay; always ensuring that we had all the needed information about what to do, where to go, ...
We stayed there 3 nights and really enjoyed it. 

Authentic and quiet

Whenever possible, I like to stay at small establishments when I travel, but when booking from a distance, it can be hard to get the true picture of the nature of the place. I can only say that I was thrilled to see that La Casona de Sames exceeded my expectations in terms of ambience, character, attention to detail, and the warmth and friendliness of the owners, Maria and Ramon. Although we were in a small room on the third floor, the exposed wood beams, artwork, and overall lovely decor, charmed me immediately. Our room looked out over a mountain, and the cool breezes were very welcome at night. We were very fortunate to have great weather for the end of October, allowing us to take a beautiful hike that Maria had suggested to us in the nearby Pongas Nature Park. The countryside everywhere is beautiful, and the frequent jingling of cowbells was a wonderful antidote to commercial music. Maria and Ramon were helpful in all ways, and delighted in making their guests happy. The only hard part for me was that the breakfasts concentrated on pastries, which was more sugar than I would have liked. But that was minor, and I would return any time I go back to northern Spain.
