My wife had to go for a back operation in a private hospital.When she was booked in I noticed the lodge on the same premises.I enquired about the rates and to my surprise they had a special fare if you are visiting someone in the hospital.I stayed there and what a superb place.Luxurious,quiet and the staff at reception are the friendliest and most helpful.I can reallly recomend this place.

Absolutely fantastic.

What an amazing place this is to stay. It’s very rustic but very comfortable. Where else can you stay with wild animals in your back garden ! We sat having our breakfast watching the Zebra, Springboks, lamas , Ostrich, Giraffes  & Rhinos ect grazing close by. It was truly breathtaking. All the staff were very friendly & welcoming. Our room was made up with fresh bedding & clean towels every day. On the estate there are 3 restaurants all unique in their own way & very cheaply priced. We would definitely go back & highly recommend this place

What an amazing place 

We travelled from Betty's Bay to Bloemfontein to celebrate my aunts 100th Birthday. My mom 84 were with my husband and I. What can I say about Emoya? I can write a book. Since day one when I booked, everything was just a pleasure. I've sent an email to request rates and literally within 5 minutes I received an email back. I like!! Called reception because I had some questions about wheelchair accessibility. Spoke to Wimpie @ Reception. Were treated like Royalty!! What a friendly man. On the day of our arrival, we were an hour early. Called reception to hear if we can book in even though we were early. Spoke to Adriaan @ Reception. Again, treated like Royalty. We booked in at 13:00 instead of 14:00. 
Our little heaven started though when we were all relaxed on our private little 'stoep' and animal came "visiting" us - on our stoep!! . Amazing. Stayed two nights but would easily visit again and stay a week. Breakfast were delish. Leaving before breakfast day two, Anver made padkos pakkies for us. What an awesome person! Again were treated like Royalty! My parents, hubby and I travel a lot and this is the second time ever that I write a review like this but, Emoya and Staff deserve the best review one can give. Excellence is definitely what they offer their clients! This is a memory we will NEVER forget!! Thanks to all involved. You guys and girls are SUPER GREAT!! and the animals ... well, they rock too!

A little bit of Heaven

Lovely place . Clean. restaurant times can be a little tricky. Close amenities. A fantastic checkers around the corner. We had 2 giraffes on our porch in the afternoon. Plus 2 white rhinos about 80m from us. Brilliant sunsets

Great animal guide and rustic

It is a stunning place to visit, it is quite and relaxing, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. The only down side is the location, the rooms are neat and very rustic creating a great experience,

Relaxing

Truly a worthwhile destination to visit.
The Venue is still a work in progress, and beautiful already. 
The rooms are very spacious, and extremely well kept. Even the cold winters in the Free State are no problem, as the rooms have underfloor heating, air cons and extremely comfortable beds. 
The rooms look out onto the bush, and one feels like one is completely alone in nature.

Bush Experience on Bloemfontein's Doorstep

We stayed at Emoya for one night .Upon entering the reception office I sensed that this place was not going to live up to my expectations(as advertised on their site)
We stayed in a family unit.The shower's water pipes leaked more water than the water coming out the showerhead.The mattresses on the single beds saw better days.No choice of cushions only big continental cushions to sleep on.
Breakfast was tasteless and deserves a rating of 0.5 out of 10.I have never been served a omelette as bad as the one I had at the lodge.The hot trays with the bacon and mince were dirty.The fruit salad was sour.I wouldn't serve a breakfast like that to the homeless. Emoya has a lot of potential but need a serious improvement in maintenance and service.No management were available to complain to.
