We stayed here for 4 days when visiting the Western Province and found the island a perfect place for quiet and relaxation. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the meals were varied and sumptuous. Our room was modern and from the balcony we could watch small and large vessels going past. We swam from the small beach and visited the village of Halisi on the main island across the water. We enjoyed the walk around the island and relaxing on our balcony enjoying the views. The island as in many places in the Solomon Islands has limited power, but we were able to charge our phones and the absence of hot water was not an issue given the daily temperatures and humidity! We enjoyed our stay, especially the friendliness of the staff who made us welcome and the experience of this lovely environment.

Relaxing Secluded Hideaway

Very comfortable lodging. Excellent food. Friendly competent staff. Convenient access to Seghe.

The island has an easy walking path that shows the difference in flora and fauna of leeward and windward exposure. Swimming around the island also offers that same contrasting experience. A highlight was snorkeling with spotted eagle rays. Priceless.

One thing to remember. The beauty of Marovo Lagoon and Evis Resort specifically is the travel experience to a place of natural beauty and island isolation. If you are a tourist expecting "sterile" Hilton or Intercontinental lodging, suggest you don't waste your time or money.

My favorite resort during a three week circumnavigation of Marovo Lagoon.

We stayed for five days and enjoyed our visit.  Frequently it is the little things in life that are a highlight.  Having a large bed with a wide spread mosquito net was a delight.  Hot climate means at night you don't necessarily want to be pressed against your partner all night nor do you want to wake up in the morning with a mosquito net imprinted on your face.  The cabins are spacious and well set up and offer privacy.
Food was orientated towards a western diet using local produce which suited the kids. 
They have a small but interesting coral reef in front of the cabins which the kids enjoyed snorkeling around each day.  We did the island walk via the reach and rock shelf rather than the track which resulted in us seeing a different aspect to the island.
Recommend the visit to the local village of Halisi, talk to the guides about the logging that is going on there and the effects it is having on their way of life it is quite interesting.

A little bit of luxury

3 comfortable, modern bungalows on a tiny island, we had a very relaxing stay. Food was very good - best taro chips in the Solomons! Staff lovely. We stayed 3 nights and visited the nearby village of Halisi, which was a real highlight. There is some good snorkelling right outside the lodge and even better at nearby islands. Weather wasn't great during our stay, though the wild tropical storms were impressive in themselves and a good excuse to read and relax. Lots of mosquitos, bring repellant, I'd recommend the resort install fly screens on all windows on the bungalows.

TIPS: Communication via the website and email is excellent. We pre-paid for our food and accommodation via bank transfer to an Australian account. Though it is unsecured, we had no issues.

Relaxing, comfortable way to conclude our trip to Western Province

Great people, great food, generously sized rooms but while this might be the newest resort in the Western Province the climate has been tough on the buildings and an overhaul is well past due. The island is small and the track starting to get overgrown, the coral reef is absolutely just off the beach which is just in front of the bungalows but the reef looks quite stressed. 

The bungalow is bare light bulb chic but the bathroom, cold water only, is clean and works well. There are some odd stains on the walls and ceilings. Hooks to hang things like towels up would be a plus. Power is available in the morning the evening and sometimes otherwise. When the generator is switched off at night the fan stops (obviously) and it can be quite still and hot. Only 2 bungalows operational at the moment so you may well have the place to yourself. If you like to meet people you may not.

Food is seriously good. Very fresh ingredients, cooked well and generous portion. The fish has just come out of the sea and is delicious but if you don't like fish or prefer you fish processed before getting on your plate you will be out of luck.

A bit of a mixed bag

Wow- what an amazing place, people, adventures, experiences, food, comfort, value for money and all round top holiday destination. Can't say enough really about how awesome this place is........
We had the best snorkelling; a croc-finding excursion; sunken tuna boat free dive trip; up-close and personal with the newly hatched LeatherBack Turtles (escorting them to the sea) and the most relaxing and carefree environment you could hope for. I'll definitely be back..............

The Crown in the Jewel

Gerbera owns the island along with Andrew Granger, her British /Australian husband.  Sheldon the "Manager" is Gerbera's brother.
We are disappointed that the owners would not refund/partially refund unused accommodation - they are not inundated with bookings - we were only guests for October (and felt uncomfortable being so) & are led to believe that there are no other bookings for remainder of this year.

Fri transfer from airport ok, at island vaguely  shown room, no greeting or explanation from resort staff. 3 guests filled us in on details - said someone would be out to inform us - never happened. 
NO HOT WATER. NO 24 HOUR POWER.  Over a year ago claims solar hot water was to be installed soon - never happened, will not be happening according to Sheldon, owners have no money & do not even supply funds to operate resort - at times Sheldon has no funds provided to be able to purchase fuel for boat & generator & for food provisions. Also claims diving centre opening this year are totally false - Sheldon knows nothing about it.  3 accommodating units completed, 1 partially completed, 1 just some framework - will not be completed anytime soon as owners will not/cannot supply funds for materials etc. Generator on extremely limited times and not overnight so no fan which would have been useless anyway as at opposite end of room to bed.  Pillows - bad - heavy and hard - like bags of cement - could not sleep on them.
No room cleaning, after 3 days asked for clean towels (Mon) and room cleaning - rubbish not removed from room.  Sun 14/10 no cold wine. Wine never in fridge, had to request this daily. Asked clean towels Wed. 17/10 evening.  Again Sat 20/10 + rubbish,  removal - done but no room cleaning, bed makeup etc.  Again Tue 23/10.
Had to continually ask for toilet rolls and rubbish removal during stay.  Rooms not attended to daily.  Not at all unless requested. 
All walkways/steps/dining room floor extremely dangerous/slippery when wet (daily), like walking  on ice - could not walk on it.
Snorkelling from beach tricky - constant waves & swift back rip plus not level - uneven dropped downs, all on to mainly rocks & loose broken off dead coral.
Excursions expensive - price per person, fuel should not be double just because 2nd person went.
On island opposite - minutes away - timber milling operation - commercial ship anchored in front of Evis, tug and barge of timber logs passes frequently directly and close to main Evis areas/home reef - transfer of logs from barge to ship round clock operation.
Evis so call calm side is not a lagoon. It is a through channel (strong current, rough unclear waters) to open seas.  Island Evis on practically last island down coast, other side of island open seas.
Wed 17/10 - clothes washing returned within 30 mins, had been dunked in water and returned dripping wet. Again Sat 20th.
Wed. 17/10 Lunch no cold softdrinks, they are not kept in fridge.
From our travel agent, Manager at Evis requested to reply to email sent to him from his booking office re us wishing to leave early so a refund could be determined - Manager unable to do so - no credit on his phone. Was picking up 2 guests  pm, would try to get buy phone  credits.  We had to pay.
17/10 2 journalists from Vanuatu reporting for SI Tourism arrived for 1 night - lobster platter, us absolute greasy spaghetti with minimal lobster meat and cold oily chips.
18/10 journalists transferred to another island, outboard seized on return trip.
19/10 Chocolate sponge cake for breakfast.
22/10 Chocolate muffins for breakfast.  Ran out of fanta only coke available.  Ran out of fuel for genset Sheldon away all day getting fuel.  Water problem with pump, majority day/evening no water.
23/10 Evis has no SBD money for fuel.  Sheldon requested us to exchange his A$ for SBD.
Only good thing - meals reasonable and varied and large servings - over sized portions rice.  No fruit or eggs offered after day 2.  Staff friendly and accommodating when asked for something.  We had to continually ask for things - cleaning, toilet paper, soap, towels etc.

Beware of paying upfront - description of property false

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and definitely enhanced my experience. The rooms were outstanding and large in size, although there was no hot water, due to the hot climate this was not an issue.
