The location is very beautiful with lovely views of the sea. The patio and garden & pool area are very nice. Food is excellent and the staff is sooo helpful both with food, arranging good taxi drivers, airport transfers etc, for a good price. Just a word of warning: the beach (far below, so it's only a problem when you take the stairs down to the beach) is impressively dirty/filthy. So just don't expect nice walks on the beach.

Wonderful staff, gorgeous views, good rooms

I give this hotel four stars because of two things: the outdoor dining area with a sea-view and the friendly staff. 

I am glad I was there mostly during dry weather, which allowed me to enjoy the outdoor seating. However, the 15 minutes or so that I spent inside in the sitting area when it rained, it felt like sitting in an unkempt living room of a big family.

It was indeed a family business and many people, possibly family members were helping out. They were all very friendly.

The little pool was often full. There seemed to be many day-visitors and at times it was very loud. 

As for Wi-Fi, although they kept saying "connect to D-link", there was mostly no internet with that link.

The rooms were small and dark and did not give a very clean feeling. My bed-sheets had blood stains from mosquito bites of the previous guest. 

The family seemed to be cutting corners in many things. Even the soap was a left-over last piece of what looked like the soap used for doing laundry. Maybe local tourists had no problem with this, but I found it rather unclean.

I am glad I had the experience and I did enjoy having a drink or two by the seaside. So, I can forget about the not-so-good stuff in the hotel.

Nice garden with sea view, but hotel can use some improvements

A nice, clean and simple hotel, very helpful and friendly staff, very relaxed atmosphere.
A fine - not extraordinary- dinner for 10 €, served on the teras with view over the ocean. 
The hotel is directly on the beach - unfortunately the beach is terribly dirty and nobody could swim in the ocean. The small pool is a little compensation for refreshing. 
Whe you need some days for reading, thinking this is you place. The rooms are simple and not for staying in daytime - there you should look for a place under the trees. 
Mbour is Africa: wonderful people, chaotic traffic, excellent street food and no Aldi or Lidl - which we found wonderful

calm and dreamview over the ocean

The staff is friendly, but the accommodations are a little less than desirable for a "resort" area on the coast of West Africa.  It also seemed that there were very many "guests" both during the day and evenings utilizing the pool and patios.  As other writers have mentioned, it is in a quieter area of Mbour, but far from any restaurants or many attractions. For the price, I guess it is fair.

Not As Advertised

Hotel was beautiful and clean! The hotel is located in a quieter area of Mbour, great for a relaxing getaway. Staff was friendly and accommodating---and the food was fantastic! The architecture of the hotel was like nothing I have ever seen in Senegal, the hotel was charming.

Great Staff and Beautiful Architecture!

I found this hotel by accident, actually, through another passenger in my cab when the first place I was planning to go to fell through. I couldn't have been happier with this serendipity. It truly felt like paradise, zen, walking into the hotel itself and then stepping outside into the gardens overlooking the ocean. The rooms were as beautiful as they were comfortable, a difficult balance. And the staff made me feel completely at home. I truly hope to return!

Paradise in Mbour

As I start all my reviews, I've been living in rural senegal (Tambacounda) for the last 4 months, so my idea of luxury is skewed.

Keur Marrakis is a delightful, cabin-feel hotel. It is set apart from the main road, right on the beach, has a clean pool and a very accommodating staff. It's an ideal place to just kick back and relax.

The downsides: the bed in room #6 was terribly uncomfortable and the dinner/menu in general was disappointing (6 500F for their pre-fixe dinner, which included a shredded cabbage salad, rice and prawns or pasta and sauce, melon for dessert).
