I've stayed for three nights at Pensiunea Cris in August 2020, and below

General:
The other reviews about the permanent monitoring of the administrator seemed a little bit absurd at first, but unfortunately they turned out to be true. You had the permanent feeling that you watched. You didn't feel welcome and the administrator seemed like he's doing you a favor by tolerating you.  There wasn't any welcome greetings, but a long list of instructions instead with what you cannot do. 
For me this entire "Big Brother" experience was a first and very unpleasant. 

Room
I had a 2 bedroom apartment together with my parents. The rooms were quite large and the beds comfortable, but poorly sound proofed, so I could hear everything from the hallway and the bed linen had yellow stains. 
The minibar wasn't a real minibar, but a fridge with a bottle of water (not complimentary) inside.

Bathroom
The bathroom was quite small, without windows and not properly ventilated. This caused dampness in the shower cabin, which wasn't cleaned. The toiletries,  as well as the toilet paper were of a very poor quality. 
You could feel that the towels and the bathrobes were washed too many times already, being very rough. Some of them had yellow stains as well.

Shower
The shower lacked a shower head support, so you had to shower with the hose in your hand. The toiletries support was missing as well so you had to put everything on the floor. 
The water temperature and pressure were good.

Restaurant
The food selection was very basic, the only side dish offered was different types of potatoes. The overall quality of ingredients was poor, at a discount supermarket level. In general the food tasted average and the waiting times varied, but in general were medium-long. There wasn't any international selection or variety.

Bar
The bar menu was way under the standard selection you can find on an airplane. As an example there was only one type of beer and no cola light and the drinks fridge was mostly empty. 

Breakfast
The breakfast selection was standard for a 2* hotel. This was limited to eggs, two types of cheese,  some vegetables, watermelon, pineapple and meat. The omelette was good, but everything else was lacking flavor. 

Corona rules
The corona rules weren't really observed or visibly displayed. Except for a bottle hand sanitizer located on the reception desk, you couldn't really feel that a pandemic is going on. The administrator didn't wear a mask neither outside or inside. The same applied to the restaurant personal, from which only one person wore a mask and that under the nose. The breakfast buffet was located inside, where wearing a mask seemed optional an unenforced by anyone. No visible hand sanitizer located in the nearby, in a place where everyone touched everything.

Outdoor pool
The water had a optimal temperature, but it had a little bit too much chlorine. This could be because of Corona. The hand rails were missing, making the entry and exist in the pool a little bit difficult The music played in the pool area was from a local radio station which kind of ruined the vibe.

Indoor Pool & SPA area
The indoor pool was closed due to Corona and I haven't been to the SPA area.

Tips
The nearby road it's perfect for jogging. You can run for almost 2 km till the top of the hill and the views are really nice. There is a small black and white dog that mainly wants to play and he ran with me for the entire trail. 

Sum up:
The location and the architecture of the guesthouse are great, but the services are below average and the permanent surveillance feeling kind of ruins the mood. If you really want an outdoor pool go for it, but expect to be overcharged and treated poorly. If not,  I suggest to look for something else.

3 Days Family Trip

Verry expensive for what it offer. Breakfast verry poor, menu is also meat based. For dinner there are no options. At 10 everything is closed. No drink, no food. You are not aloud to drink with friends ...for people over 70 years old is fine!!!

Just don't

This is our second visit to Pensiunea Cris. Everything was GREAT! Highly recommend! 

Very nice decorated rooms, sparkling clean. Very good temperature in all spacies. Bathroom - modern. Good quality cosmetics. Hot water with very good pressure. Great bathrobe, towells and slippers.

Excellent SPA services: indoor pool (also outdoor, for summer), sauna, massage and salina.

Great traditional restaurant, excellent taste for food.

The owners are very nice people, kind, polite and very warm and helpful.

Highly recommend!

Too expensive for what it offers. The boss is a kind of master everywhere: he watches your footsteps, the children are not allowed to run, to gallop. The pool is a kind of temple: you are not allowed to jump in it, to swim, to splash. Food and drink is expensive and in small assortments. The price of accommodation is very expensive for what it offers. Channels on TV are lockes and there are no cartoons channels what kids expects. I don't recommend it to enemies either.

When human destroys almost everything

I searched the whole city for an outdoor pool and found it here.  The view is dreamlike, as is the location.  In exchange, children are not allowed to jump in the pool, to swim or run.  The manager / owner has an attitude that leaves really desirable and I do not recommend ANYONE to go there if he is looking for a place for the children.  In the end, we were forbidden to visit the location because of the children, I would like to mention that they jumped by 2x by mistake.  And every time we got our attention and the manager/owner was really unfriendly and bad-behaved. It's out of my list that place.

Not suitable for kids.

went in the area for skiing. this spot is good to crash after a long day on the slopes. the only thing good to mention is the pool. small but refreshing. clean. average restaurant. uninterested management. poor warming: too much heat in the room and the next day you should sleep with your nose covered. strange attitude ;( Clean and roomy anyway. Enjoy.

Average attitude...

Best place to stay and enjoy Vatra Dornei surroundings and Bistrita Valley. Indoor and outdoor pools, kids playground, very good restaurant and excellent services. I warmly recommend this location for its secluded and beautiful views. 

Best accommodation in Vatra Dornei

The owner has nothing to do with turism bussiness.
-worst food in a very long time. The pizza came black. BURNED. From 8 soups in the menu they had only 2, in fact just one, they put meat in it to be the second one.  Mushrooms tastes like plastic. The waitress was the only thing OK in the whole picture.
- 7 beers in the menu and they had just 1 to sell. And that was 10-12 bottles. We had to ask the manager to buy some more. And we were a group of 14 booked 1 month in advance.
- the restaurant closes at 22.00. When we asked to stay some more, we had the feeling he did us a favor to let us buy his products.
- everywhere you look there is a sign telling you not to do something.  Don't play with the ball, don't jump in the pool, don't......don't
......don't. 
- breakfast was OK. 
- the ventilator in the bathroom works all night. Can't sleep because of it
- the walls are made of wood only. No quiet at all. 
- we had a light outside directly in our window. Daylight all night.
- I WILL NEVER COME BACK, FOR SURE. Some people should never work in tourism. It's not for everyone.

Worst place EVER

Worse experience this year! Although it is a quite decent place with a small spa area,  the people who are owning the place are very greedy and will do everything to rip you  off!  They are very mean to you! When we've arrived,  it was snowing and two days later I asked the manager of is anyone gonna do something with the ice on the access uphill little road... The answer was NO... I asked him if he can provide me some salt to sprinkle on the road... And the answer was that I should get winter tires on my car(I already had tham) 
The deal with the manager was that he will provide us a place where our group could stick together (more than 20) as long as we want without bothering anyone... ne told îs that that's OK... On the first evening he told us that the the program is until 10 pm.
They said that it will be a discount if we will gonna rent all the rooms available (13)...we used only 11 but he made us paid for all 13 for every of the 4 days... for breakfast and everything 
Long story short... Find something else

Beautiful place,  decent food,  worse manager I have ever encountered!  DO NOT RECOMMEND
