Coincidence? I think not! The only hotel near the train depot couldn't take my Visa and I had no lei. The clerk directed me down a dark street and told me there was a room in a private house. Cold, raining, dark: Didn't have much of a choice. The "private house" turned out to be a lovely pensione where I stayed for 3 nights on Easter weekend. My room was a nice size and quiet, with all the amenities, at a very reasonable price. A lovely lounge and great breakfast buffet, which was included in the room rate. The only drawback was no elevator. Quaint and charming.

Hidden gem

Very clean, good price, breakfast included(great variety)We booked last minute, arrived late,  the front desk was very welcoming and gratios. We liked it so much, we decided to stay an extra night in Cluj Napoca.

Great find

I needed somewhere to stay that was close to Gara CFR Cluj-Napoca and I chose Pensiune Junior because it was less than a 5 minute walk away. After filling in the registration form at check-in and making payment I was soon given my key for room 7.

The room was much bigger than I was expecting and was absolutely fine with a comfortable bed, good amount of storage space and fridge and the TV had an endless amount of channels. The only thing missing was the aircon but there was a freestanding fan that worked well enough. Wifi wasn't available in the room until the last few hours of my stay unfortunately. The bathroom was fine with a good shower with a few toiletries provided.

I did not have breakfast as I had to leave early in the morning, I had a few drinks in the bar in the evening and the prices were very reasonable. Pensiune Junior is ideal as it is close to the station and it was a very comfortable place to stay.

Comfortable pensiune close to Gara CFR Cluj

Professionally run place, more a hotel than a pension, very clean, large rooms and bathrooms, excellent breakfast, at a reasonable price. Great location for catching a train. Only drawback as already mentioned is no lift. Try getting a room to the back, nice and quiet...

Very Nice Pensiunea

To cover some ground quickly in order  to catch an onward train through the Carpathians en route to Ukraine, we had flown in from Bucharest and arrived late on 24th Oct, at 22:20. 

With early departure the next morning by train to Suceava, we needed to stay close to the station. Buses stopped  at 22:00, so we got a taxi to  Pensuine Junior, Str. Cli Ferate 12 (100m from the station).   

Pre-arrival, communication was good (I wanted to make sure they knew if we had delays etc ..as was not 100% clear on reception opening times). Upon arrival, the lady on reception spoke little English  (an observation, not a criticism)  but was helpful  and checked us in.  The room was comfortable, the bathroom more than adequate and we were able to catch breakfast the following morning which was buffet style and plentiful. 

The hotel was spotless, the service friendly and the location within 5 minutes’ walk of the station was hard to beat (although if you had to sleep with windows open, you may get disturbed by early morning rail movements. Travelling with a railway 'super-fan', this was not a problem !) 

There were also a number of shops and supermarkets nearby so we were able to stock up on supplies before our 7-hour rail journey to Suceava.

I would  recommend the hotel and would have no problems in staying again. My only regret was not having time to see Cluj-Napoca

Great location for transport links

A simple night and needed a place close to the railway station as I had an early departure. The room was basic and a little sparse with no coffee / tea making facilities at all and whilst it did have a fridge there was something left in it which smelt a little nasty and so I didn’t open it. The bathroom was quite large and the shower had good power. Fair I suppose and ok if that is what you need but I don’t think I would stay there again.

Basic place near the station

If you want to be annoyed and to lose money, stay on Junior Guesthouse. Very very unpleasant stay. Stuff very very very unfriendly, bad smell in all the guesthouse, dirty shower cabin, dirty and very old and used bed sheets and towels. Breakfast... terrible. At 00.00 o'clock in the night they are locking all the entrances although the reception is "open" non-stop. If you reach the guesthouse after that time, you are rebuked as if you were a student of a boarding school. The walls are so thin as to hear the person in the next room snoring :(( I REALLY DON'T RECOMAND!
