Calhau Grande

A hidden gem situated in a beautiful rural area, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. As a family with 2 children (21 and 16 years old), we chose the 6-person villa, and we have not regretted it. 2 neat bedrooms, each with its own good shower and downstairs also a sleeping place in the cozy living room with a lovely hammock. We had 2 terraces, both with great views, and watching the sunset from the hammock was sublime. The owners are very helpful and can be easily reached via WhatsApp. There is a small supermarket within walking distance (although you do have to climb, via a walkable route) with friendly staff. The pool is refreshing (with salt water). Tip: rent a car with a powerful engine; beautiful Madeira contains many steep roads (some up to 20%).
