Rooms were tiny but have their own bathroom. There was no hot water when we tried to take a shower. The common areas are clean and comfortable. There's a storage room for luggage. The location is convenient, close to restaurants and shopping.

Ok for a hostel

We spent one night here and it was fine, but not fabulous. We were only given a towel each (no bath mat or hand towel) there wasn’t much in the room (no bedside table or lamps) and one of the beds had some old oil stains on the bedding, but it generally felt very clean. The breakfast was quite disappointing though- cold bread (no toast) with only butter/jam or ham/cheese, or cornflakes (but no milk provided, only very sweet yoghurt). It was fine for one night but if you’re staying longer or if you want a good breakfast you might want to choose somewhere else. 

Basic but fine

This is a budget hotel, and you get what you pay for. Our room was booked through our tour operator, Salkantay Trekking. After 7 days of trekking and 6 nights in a tent, it was nice to have a bed, our own bathroom, and a surprisingly strong shower with actual hot water. 

On the negative side, this place is LOUD. The walls are super-thin, the window vent in our bathroom didn’t fully close, and the open interior of the hotel is an echo chamber. Even worse, the hotel is right down the street from the stadium. If you happen to be there on a night when there is an event, good luck. Our night there coincided with a concert that went until 3:30 AM, and we could hear every note. Not ideal when you need to get up at 4 AM to get to Machu Picchu. Literally any other street would be quieter.

Note that they pack you a takeout breakfast if you leave for MP before dawn, and will store your bags while you are out for the day. It’s 15 soles if you want to shower after you get back from MP, which isn’t a terrible deal. 

Overall, if you are on a tight budget, this place is acceptable. But I’d recommend spending a few extra dollars and upgrading to somewhere that’s a little quieter.

Upgrade if you can

It’s OK if you want a clean shower, a fast sleep to wake up at 4:00am and start climbing the stairs in Machu Picchu. 
It’s not a nice place, but it’s what you get booking a 2 star hostel.
The location is OK. 

Good for a 2 star hostek

Good location.. you can hear everything though because of the very near soccer field.Besides that we had a great time

Everything was fine, wonderful people and good service. In the lobby they have free all day and consign the free bags until the time of your departure after doing the check out. the breakfast was exelent.

Wonderfull

No one at the front desk to ask for towels so they scorned us for finding extra towels on our own to soak up the water from a leaking toilet. Toilet leaked in my friends room and my aunt’s room as well. They did not provide towels for my aunt’s room. No wash cloths. When you sit on the toilet in room 301 your knees will be touching the wall in front of you. Water from the faucet was brown, it may be water from the local river. The only good thing about this place is the location from the base of Machu pichu

Good location but poor poor service

In our travel through Peru, this was the most horrible hotel we stayed in. We arrived late (around 10 pm) only to discover that they didn't accepted Visa, altough in the reservation they said they accepted. They tryed to charge trough a diferent system, where the attendent started collecting all my credit card information,and it was not accepted in the end. I had made the reservation trough Booking, and I sayed to make the charges trough it, and they charged me 5% more for doing that. The room was not clean, the shower didn't had hot water and the floor was dirty, the window didn't had a blackout curtain, which is horrible, since the hotel windows are faced to the street lights. The breakfast was horrible, the coffe was bad, they gave us everything counted. The attendant was not been educated with us. This was the most expensive hotel of the journey, with the most horrible service. And the location is close to the center of the city. It was Sunday, and the city was having some kind of party, and the party went on untill 2 am, with a really loud music, making impossible to sleep. I don't recomend for anyone to go to this hotel.

Horrible

This very well located has all the services that travelers need, very friendly and polite staff. Breakfast very fresh and is from very early. Recommendable.

Pros:
-Around 10pm, it was quiet and dark
-Hot shower
-They'll pack you a bagged breakfast for Machu Picchu if you're leaving super early
-They'll store your bags for you
-Good location-7 minute walk to the buses to MP and 3 minutes to the train station

Cons:
-It's like an echo chamber in there!  Don't try and get to bed before 10pm.  I think the staff lives on the top floor and it's all open so we could hear every thing they did and said during their dinner.  Also, I had to return early from Machu Picchu because I was ill and I couldn't get any rest during the day.  The walls must be very thin because I could hear everything going on outside, too.  They were doing construction in the building next door so we were hearing a saw until about 10pm.  
-The one wall of the room is a window facing inside the hotel so it was never quite dark until they turned off the lights inside the hallways.  This also made the noise louder.  

In general, Aguas Caliente is a touristy town and I can't imagine a lot of quality places to stay within a budget there.
