Very clean amenities and reasonable walking distance to ferries (1.7km) with nice, grassy sites. The facilities are quite run down and dated and there is a train line running above the park with 1-2 freight trains passing through each night. 

Okay for a short stay close to town

This campground was within in walking distance of the cbd and was easy to find.  The patron wasn't overly helpful and left me to find my own way around.  No cutlery, plates etc available, you need to bring your own.  The facilities were good.  Plenty of space in the kitchen/dining area.  Wifi is not complimentary.  Extra cost.  $20 for a night.

We used Alexanders as a place to do a motorhome swap with my sister, and used both an ensuite cabin and a powered site.  It is a lovely location and we enjoyed the railway running overhead. Easily accessible from State Highway 1, The cabin was spotless and the double bed comfortable, and the toilets and showers in the camp were very good also.  Antony was friendly and helpful.  We will certainly stay again when passing through Picton.

Tidy roomy campground in great location

We made an online reservation as we were arriving late from the ferry, but when we rang the owner on the day to ask him about arrangements for arriving late, he said he couldn't guarantee us a 
place - weird definition of 'reservation'. He was then incredibly rude when we tried to sort things out.

The place is also in disgusting condition with many broken/dirty appliances. 

I heard several people saying there were leaving early, despite having paid for multiple nights, because the place was so grim.

There are much better places, closer to town for the same amount of money - don't go here.

Avoid, avoid avoid

Nothing special about this campsite. We arrived late at night from the ferry and it was a good place to go because the check-in was super easy. The kitchen was nice and had everything you would need. It was not busy at all which was nice also. The showers had barely any pressure. I would not recommend for an extended stay, but good for a night (max. of 2 nights).

Good place if you arrive for the ferry late

We have stayed here before and know it is a nice basic site in the bush beside a stream which allows dogs.  Great for catching early morning ferry.  We had no bedding so hired a sheet and duvet for the beds.  While on the ferry I received a phone call from the owner who proceeded to abuse me for "using the sheet as a bottom sheet which meant I had cost him $120 in dry cleaning costs for the duvet covers which equated to losing him 5 nights accommodation thank you very much" and hung up on me.  This was not the way I wanted to start my Xmas break and we will never be back and we will never recommend this place to anyone again.

So I will be brief

This place could be good. The location is excellent, very near the ferry terminal, the grounds are spacious, you can walk into town....but im sorry to say is stops there. It is vert itred and run down, fully of nasty "Do Not" type signs. I think there are several people living there full time in very run down caravans. If you are pretty robust, then all good, but you probably best be forewarned.

If you cant say anything nice.....

Honestly the rudest owner I’ve ever met. He neglected to tell us upon check in that check out was at 10am, and told me this as I was putting my laundry on in the morning. As he had not told us the check out time I felt it would be reasonable for him to allow us to stay until our laundry was finished, but he came back over to start an argument with me for ‘taking advantage’ (despite the fact I was paying to use his laundry). He told us we needed to pay a 10 dollar late fee, so we did. Even after taking this money he continued to shout at us. I think he must just enjoy arguing with his customers? Very weird. 

Besides the owner - dirty facitilities, rubbish showers. Only plus is the cute cat. Definitely avoid this place, would give 0 stars if I could.

Extremely rude owner, rubbish site, avoid!

We arrive there at 10am to check in and the owner was obviously not happy about that and told us that the price is 30$ unpowered site and 10$ more because we arrive early. I mean who does that?? We’ve been staying in lot of holiday park with early check-in never had problem. This is out of respect and welcoming to say.

Save your money for people who deserve it

Not worth it

After reading the reviews I wondered if I’d made a mistake by booking here for the night BUT we were pleasantly surprised.
We received a warm welcome by the owner.
Our cabin, the linen & the bathroom was clean and comfortable. 
The train track goes right overhead but it did not disturb us in the night. 
The cabin was quiet. We enjoyed our visit.
