The surprising thing about Hotel Olaertsduyn is that it is only rated (by its proprietors) as a Three Star Hotel... I would say that it could easily compete with some of the major four star international hotels I've stayed in. The reason the management give for the modest ranking is that they recognise that the bathrooms might need an upgrade to bring them into line with higher graded hotels... well, maybe. But that doesn't detract from the fact that the hotel is excellently run by its keen and efficient staff - and here's the clincher: at only £35 per night each for B&B, it represents excellent value. The decor is minimalist and modern in a 1990s sort of style with Ikea-like simplicity, but the rooms are spacious and clean. I loved the open plan - eat (most) anytime breakfast room - mainly Continental Cuisine, but a nod to the British guests with an easy to use hot plate and a limitless supply of bacon and eggs. Finally, just a word about the excellent staff; friendly and super efficient, they really made our stay complete.
